There are many different ways people can harm the earth, and it isn 't just littering. In the article "How Does Pollution Affect All Living Things? ", it states the definition of pollution as the introduction of harmful contaminants into air, water and soil. "The contaminates can have dire effects on entire ecosystems, making life more difficult for humans, plants and animals." All living things can get sick from all the chemicals polluting everywhere they inhabit.
Ocean polluting has big impact on human’s health too. As those chemicals are ingested by the animals, it is not good for humans. Because we are at the end of the food chain, we consume contaminated fish and mammals. We might consume much more toxic chemicals than the sea animals. There are different types of ways that plastic is dangerous for humans.
Not only does do offshore drilling rigs pollute the air but they also pollute the oceans and create a deadly environment for marine life and reefs. This shows how one small mistake made by oil drilling companies is extremely dangerous to the environment and could even wipe out populations of marine life which can create dead zones. Majority of pollution comes from storing toxic oils that are dangerous to the oceans. The amount of air pollutants is not that much compared to other contributors of air pollution but they all add up and will slowly destroy our
Oceans are being polluted by substances such as farm fertilizers, chemicals produced in factories, and harmful sewage from towns and cities (Claybourne 38). Trash and debris, especially plastics, are deposited into the oceans by humans. These objects can be mistaken as food by many species, which eventually leads to death. When species consume what looks like to be food, but in reality is hazardous waste, the animal contains that chemical inside of them. When a larger animal consumes the hazardous animal, it affects the entire food chain (“What Is Ocean”).
Mining the hydrothermal vents could make it so that some very bad things could happen to our earth. Mining is very bad idea until we finish all of the studies about hydrothermal vents because very bad things could happen to fish and the communities nearby the mining. First, The vents are used as homes for species. Mining could wipe out all of the yet to be discovered species. Mining will pollute the water and let out toxins that can kill species and communities near by.
Pollution is a large and obvious problem when drilling for oil. Drilling gives off air pollution as well as carbon discharges--this is very bad for the environment. Another con is the possibility of an environmental hazard such as an oil spill. Oil spills can cause harm to people in the area, the environment itself, and marine life (GreenGarage). Along with those problems, due to an oil spill, there is also the increased possibility of a fire, and/or explosion.
What negative impact does coal produced energy do to our environment? There are many issues with coal produced energy. Coal produced energy can lead to people getting asthma, chronic bronchitis and even premature death. That’s only some of the some of the negative impacts coal produced energy does. I believe that coal is bad for the earth, plants, animals and humans based on the information I have collected.
Hurricanes can destroy homes and cities, even obliterating entire countries. It destroys our habitat but what does it do to affect the habitat of every other animal on earth? Hurricanes can mix saltwater with freshwater causing animals in the water to die because they aren’t adapted to living in the different type of water. Floodwater can also retreat into lakes, bringing in more toxins and killing off the remaining animals still in the water and all the animals that dare to drink the toxic water. Sediment erosion can affect coral reefs and oyster beds causing even more deaths.
overfishing will destroy ecosystems by eliminating certain fish that the ecosystem strives from taking away a vital asset will essentially send the system crumbling down. “According to marine ecologists, unsustainable fishing is the greatest threat to ocean ecosystems. The practice destroys the physical environments of marine life, and distorts the entire food chain in the oceans. If the food chain breaks, the consequences will ripple up and down to all the living organisms that are in the chain” (eschooltoday). This kind of behavior can lead to the extinction of certain marine animals.
