Print advertisements are very important today because they show people the importance of a product, or even the knowledge of doing something right or wrong. A website called, Smallbusiness.chron.com states, “Small companies using print in advertising can expect their advertisements to last longer.” A long lasting message is what companies strive for since they want to get their point across and are typically very informative. Of course, getting the point across is the goal in all marketing company departments, but sometimes commercials on television are not enough. Rhetoric can be defined as, “The faculty of observing in any given case the available means of persuasion” (Aristotle). The goal of any rhetorical analysis is to demonstrate your understanding of how the piece communicates its messages and meanings (Purdue.edu). There are also three modes used to persuade an audience and that is the use of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos is defined as convincing the audience of the author’s credibility or character. Pathos is defined by persuading the audience by appealing to their emotions. Logos is defined by persuading the audience using logic or reasoning (Pathosethoslogos.com). Using rhetoric is what helps the viewer break down an advertisement. It can help one see the reasoning of a print and what company is trying to persuade to of that certain action. David Ogilvy, advertising tycoon, once states, “The more informative your advertising, the more persuasive it will be.” It is always great to have a very strong message in Ads, because it will more appealing to the …show more content…

The credibility of this advertisement is a city administration in Russia called, “Ekaterinburg” or as seen on the bottom right corner of the space it also says, “EKBURG.RU”. A company called, “Red Pepper”, created the awareness AD for the city of Ekaterinburg. They are trying to promote a serious issue that is not just in the country of Russia, but around the whole world. The subject matter is the city is trying to make a difference in the rates of distracted driving and to hopefully cause drivers to think of both sides while behind the wheel. Drivers are supposed to be the protectors of passengers, especially children, so if the drive fails to do that fatalities will happen. No one wants to know they killed or injured an innocent child who was just walking the street while you, the driver, were distracted. Talking on the phone and doing all those extra activities while driving are against the law and can potentially lead to jail time for manslaughter if someone is killed. What Ekberg truly wants is increase the safety of the children in their city and limit the amount of distracted drivers. This created from a digital marketing company, so the AD is so very powerful that you can truly see the goal implanted in it and trust what they are trying to
