“The only people I owe my loyalty to are those who never made me question theirs”-Anonymous. Loyalty means to be supportive and true to someone or something. Loyalty is more important justice your friends and your family are the most important thing to you. Things are replaceable friends and family are not. In fact as a result to being loyal you become closer to your family and friends. “I had to they were drowning you Ponyboy. They might have killed you.“-said Johnny in The Outsiders. Johnny values loyalty over everything else. He saw that Ponyboy was going to get drowned! If he thought that justice was more important than his friendship he would have gone to the police and let Pony die. The police take care of the Socs. but he didn’t do this. He took matter in his own hands and was loyal. In this case "Blood is thicker than water."-When Family Loyalty Becomes a Crime …show more content…
“They was gettin him for breakin the windows in the school building, and it was Two-Bit who did that. And Dally knew it. But he just took the sentence without battin an eye or denying it.”-The Outsiders. This quote symbolizes loyalty because when Dally took the blame he knew that Two-bit was irreplaceable and he didn’t mind going to jail for him. If Dally used justice he would have reported Two-bit. “Sixteen years on the streets and you can learn a lot. But all the wrong things, not the things that you want to learn”-The Outsiders. Another thing that proves my point is that they learned all this stuff on the streets and they know that Johnny killed Bob, so Dally is telling the cops they went to Texas for Johnny and Ponyboy. He is not having justice he is being
What do you consider loyalty? Who would you give your loyalty to family? Or the law? Loyalty could be defined in many ways. Loyalty mean to me the nature of being loyal to someone.
This scene in the book really shows how “tough” Dally is in the beginning of the book. The author wants us to think that Dally is a tough guy, and that he doesn’t care about other people. That’s why in this scene dally is obnoxious, and rude, and is refusing to be nice. In this situation, an “untough’ guy would listen to what Cherry said, respect her wishes, and try to be respectful for the rest of the time. But clearly, that is not what Dally did.
Years and years ago, many qualities could be found in warriors that are still prevalent today both in the present and past world. In “Mulan”, Fa Mulan from China is a very courageous woman. Defending her people and ,ultimately, saving her people despite the fact that she is a woman and could be killed if her secret were ever found out. Chris Mintz, a former 30 year old Army infantryman, threw himself into harms way, taking seven bullets, and surviving the encounter. Beowulf, from Scandinavia, held a great deal of pride without too much arrogance.
What comes to mind when the word loyalty is mentioned? A dog, a pet, friends or family is what most people think of when the word is mentioned. However, many would not associate the word loyalty with loneliness. When John Steinbeck thought of loyalty he wrote of deep friendships and a dog and its owner’s love. Loyalty can be associated with loneliness because by the end of a friendship or family member, someone is always gone before the other, due to old age or a medical issue that has come up.
Loyalty: The Key To Survival Have you ever felt vulnerable or threatened while surrounded by a group of strangers? What did you want at that time? Backup and friends to protect you, right? The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton perfectly represents this struggle and how friends help to resolve it. The novel is realistic fiction that is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma during 1965.
loy·al·ty ˈloiəltē/ noun the quality of being loyal to someone or something. a strong feeling of support or allegiance. Loyalty is very strong and very meaningful, like true love or brotherhood. Loyalty has to be earned, not just given away. In The Odyssey, the epic poem by Homer, Odysseus’ crew is steadfastly loyal to him and follow nearly his every direction, even though they are given many reasons not to be.
What is being loyal to someone, how can it be seen? Why is it that when one is betrayed, that is all that they think about night and day? The truth is loyalty cannot be seen but only felt between people who have faith within one another. As for betrayal, it can affect one so severely that it cannot leave their mind, especially if a loved one has caused it. In “Choices” by Susan Kerslake and “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, the authors suggest that a person can change based solely on their needs, and question their ability to stay loyal or betray.
Dally is not strong mentally (when he couldn’t let Johnny go), he really does not do good deeds, and he does not care about any other people than only Johnny, and he’s rude to others and bad at using words. A quotation that supports my statement is, “What for? Get back in here before I beat your head in.” (p.90) This quotation supports my statement because Dally said this to Ponyboy when he hopped off the car and said to see what the deal is when he saw the old church on fire, it proves that Dally does not care about other stuff that does not involve him and that he’s rude to others and using
Love - an intense feeling of deep affection. Love is an emotion shown in many romantic or family relationships as well as friendships. Love is shown frequently throughout the entirety of the book The Outsiders. For example, Dally is an extremely aggressive and audacious person, but he also shows immense love towards Johnny. Sodapop is a fun-loving, carefree high-school dropout, but he is understanding and shows love to both of his brothers by seeing both sides of an argument.
Loyalty and Friendship Loyalty what does it mean? According to Webster's online dictionary loyalty means to form a strong alliance and to have a strong feeling of support. What about friendship? Friendship means to have a strong and mutual bonding relationship.
( p 147). The selfishness of this quote is astonishing and I am glad that this is just a fictional character, but the fact that The Outsiders is based off of reality is eye-opening because people like Dally might have similar thoughts. Those who are gracious, kind, and cautious of other’s well-being are heroes. Ponyboy was a hero because of how he was not only capable of thinking about the common good of others but was also able to carry through with those actions. Although Johnny was a hero, he was one to the people closest to him, by treating them with kindness and wise words that made an impact on them.
Honestly what is loyalty? One can’t even begin to define such a word. It’s one single seven letter word yet, it has a deep profound definition. Typically one does not use loyalty until they are put to the test. The test can be anything, like staying loyal to the patriots or staying loyal to your best friend.
(1.48) After Johnny died, Dally makes an enormous sacrifice that took away his life. He loved Johnny so much that he couldn't take the fact he was gone. Dally was known to be the most cold-blooded member of the gang but after Johnny's death, he was the one who showed the most affection. Dally wouldn’t have been shot if he didn’t love Johnny so much, and sacrificed himself.
ESSAY Many times I’ve thought about what’s important in a friendship, what lays the groundwork of a friendship? , what really keeps a friendship proceed for a long time?. I decided that Loyalty is a significant quality in a friendship because without it everything else will suffer in a friendship. Loyalty holds a friendship together, it grows the friendship and makes it stronger.
Someone once said, “Loyalty isn’t grey. It’s black and white. You’re either completely loyal, or not loyal at all. And people have to understand this. You can’t be loyal only when it serves you.”
