The False Sentence For The First Woman Executed Mary Surratt shouldn’t have been executed. Her co- conspirators said she was innocent and she might have not known about how much John Wilkes Booth and his partners used her boarding house and tavern.

Surratt's co-conspirators said that she had nothing to do with the plan to murder Lincoln. In the text it says that John Wilkes Booth wrote a letter with all of the co-conspirators on it, and Surratts name wasn’t on the list (Source 2). This shows that even though they used her boarding house she wasn’t apart of the plan to kill President Lincoln. The text also mentions that the co-conspirator who shot Senator Seward said that she wasn’t guilty (Source 1). This shows that the people at the meetings
