Have you ever been blamed for something you did not do? After Abraham Lincoln 's assassination Stanton, the secretary of war, began to search for suspects that may have been involved in the assassination. One of whom was Mary Surratt a woman who was the mother of John Surratt Jr. and was the owner of the boarding house in H Street, Washington. Stanton claimed Mary as part of the conspiracy to kill Lincoln, and was given a death sentence for her crimes. Even though Mary Surratt was hanged she still deserved a better sentence as she did not get a fair trial against her.

In a small place called Salem Village, Massachusetts, over 200 people were accused of being witches and 20 people were executed, 1 being pressed to death. One woman, a woman who dared to do the impossible, a woman who dared to challenge the government, a woman by the name of Mary Dyer, was executed for practicing her religion which was declared illegal by the Puritan church. Why? It was because of suffocating grasp, the theocratic government, or the Puritan Church, had over the people. It all would have been different if the Puritan society was introduced to a document, we, as citizens of the United States, are so fortunate to have, which is called the Constitution, but more specifically, if they were introduced to the establishment clause.

If witchcraft were a problem in my town I wouldn’t do anything sketchy. I wouldn’t lie about my friends. I wouldn’t even push my friends to lie for me. Abigail should be executed due to the fact that she’s the main reason so many innocent people were executed. She started it all, she has lied and she has also had an affair.

During the mid nineteen thirties there was ample prejudice from whites towards African Americans. This prejudice was greatly depicted in one particular case of nine young black men. The Scottsboro Boys were labeled as outcasts and faced a considerable amount of prejudice during their trials for a crime they had not committed; although some of the nine Boys were exonerated during the trials, the last of the Scottsboro Boys were not redeemed until decades later.

This one girl is responsible for the lives taken in the Salem witch trials of 1692. Abigail Williams is at fault for the Salem witch trials From the beginning to end she manipulated to cause the trails.From the beginning to end she manipulated the townspeople to cause the trails. She accused others of witchcraft which cost many lives just to save herself. She is guilty for the imprisonment and executions of innocent people.

In The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, there were many different themes and lessons that the reader could relate to or compare to today's society. A major theme that stuck out in this story was many people will tell lies to get what they want. This theme shows throughout the entire story and is very relevant in today's society.

"The truth doesn't cost anything, but a lie could cost you anything." This quote by an unknown author perfectly sums up the way Abigail Williams acted and treated people. During the Salem witch trials Abigail Williams was no typical Puritan women. She was seventeen years old and did whatever she wanted. She would never think about the life of others. She only cared about herself. She would blame someone for her actions just so she would not get into trouble. With her acting skills, Abigail could control the thought process of other and make them believe that everything she said was true. Abigail Williams is selfish, manipulative, and a magnificent liar.

Mary Surratt was the mother of John Surratt who was a spy. Did Mary Surratt deserved to be hanged. Mary surratt should not have got hanged.she maybe should of got a long sentence in prison or something better than getting hanged because she didn 't know booth was going to kill abraham lincoln. All she did was deliver thing to booth because he told her to.

Mary Lou Retton was born to Lois, and Ronnie Retton on January 24,1968. She was the youngest of five children, three boys, and two girls. Lois would take Mary Lou, and her sister, Shari ,to West Virginia University for gymnastics once a week. Mary Lou was first pining for Olympic Gold at age four when watching Olga Korbut during the 1972 Olympics.When Mary Lou was seven she watched Nadia Comaneci compete in the Olympics. Mary Lou Retton knew that one day she wanted to stand on the podium, and receive a gold medal.

Abigail was a corrupt, cynical, and dishonest character throughout the Salem witch trials. She accused innocent people of the community of Salem of being witches. Most of the time she did this in seek of revenge on the people, but other times she did it so that she wouldn’t get caught for lying.

Around the time of the witch trials, the people in Salem were very religious. Rumors were easily spread and it was nearly impossible to prove yourself innocent if people were talking about you otherwise. During the witch hysteria, innocent people were imprisoned and and executed because someone has accused them of being a witch. It is understandable that some would accuse others to save themselves from imprisonment or from possible death. However, I believe Abigail should be held responsible for the imprisonment and execution of innocent people because she threaten the girls, so they would act bewitched and she also lied about getting stabbed by a needle and making it look like as if Elizabeth Proctor did it with witchcraft.

Mary Surratt should not have executed. Mary Surratt was not a good woman, but she did not deserve to be executed by the government. It was possible that Mary Surratt knew about the kidnapping, but she should have never been executed by government on the spot.

On April 15, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed in Ford’s Theater by John Wilkes Booth. On July 7, 1865, Mary Elizabeth Surratt was hanged with charges of aiding the assassins. Owner of a boarding house in Washington D.C. during the Civil War, she was thought to have previously owned a safe house for the Confederates underground. Though she had a quiet childhood and normal marriage, her life took an unexpected turn for the worse by the year of 1861. Surratt was a Confederate sympathizer and often housed rebel spies, which did not help her in the trial. And when the President was killed, she was completely and utterly betrayed by her son and sentenced to hang. Overall, Mary Surratt lead a simple life, but is remembered with the dubious distinction as the first woman to be executed by the U.S. government.

Mary Surratt should have not been executed, but she should have instead received a prison sentence to life. This is because of her participation in the Lincoln assassination conspiracy and her dishonesty.

Lucreitta Mott was born on January 3rd of 1793, in Nantucket, Massachusetts. In addition to being a religious reformer and slavery abolitionist, Mott was also a women's rights activist, who played a crucial role the first wave of feminism. One of her most notable achievements was her participation, along with Elizabeth Stanton, in the Seneca Falls convention. In 1848, both Motts and Stanton called together the Seneca Falls convention. This conference addressed Women's issues, specifically the social, civil, and religious conditions and rights of women. Mott continued advocating for women’s rights and the abolishment of slavery up until she died on November 11th,
