Without a doubt, we live in an era of technological advancements. Every day, new gadgets and gizmos are introduced in the market with claims of having more advanced features than its predecessor or competitors. The goal of all these new and improved technologies is to make life easy and convenient. Convenience has become such a luxury that most people cannot do without. How many people can actually make it through the day without their cell phones, laptops and vehicles? Human beings have become so caught up in consumerism that they many have ceased from taking any responsibility for the environment. The answer is vertical farming. The concept of vertical farming capitalizes on the idea of growing plants indoors under artificial lighting conditions. Basically, plants are grown hydroponically, or without soil. Vertical farms are large, multistoried buildings. Crops are stacked one on top of the other under artificial light. Under such conditions, scientists have learned that crops grow much faster as compared to traditional farming techniques. In fact, some estimates predict vertical farms are up to a hundred times more productive than farming on land. Another advantage of this technology is that food can be grown organically because the environment in which the crops are grown is contained. Ignorant Individuals Impact Earth Why is it that people don’t care about nature anymore? Nowadays, people are so interested and caught up in their daily lives that they don’t notice the basic beauty of nature around them. Because of this, people now think that little events don’t mean big changes are occurring. Even though Bradbury’s dystopian novel warns readers about a society that doesn’t notice the basic elements of nature around them, our current culture has failed to pay attention, and his prediction has come to fruition, resulting in the thought that little things don’t relate to a bigger picture, such as global warming.
The main way that oil and natural gas reserves are acquired are through the means of Fracking. Also known as hydrofracking, this method utilizes a drill that drills down thousands of feet underground, which is then flushed with millions of gallons of water along with additive chemicals at high pressures to break the rocks sheltering the reserves. This method of attainment is quite risky as it comes with many unfavorable consequences that are quite unbeneficial. “Why Bother” Michael Pollan’s essay “Why Bother” claims both sides of the argument of why people should take action to change their daily lives that will help the environment or if it is a wasted effort to try to change the things that have been done. Pollan repeatedly asks the reader a specific question throughout the essay: Why bother? Why bother slowing down global warming? Why bother walking to and from to make one’s self carbon footprint better? He asks these questions over and over to make the reader engage and think about the environment.
Besides reducing the venomous bite mankind has struck upon the environment, green infrastructure provides the machinery that allows us to harvest sources of energy that are renewable like the wind, rivers, ocean, and sunlight. These naturally occurring renewable resources are used to create energy, which would normally be created from harmful sources like nuclear power plants, coal factories, and fossil fuels that contribute to climate change and the depletion of our planet. Along with the construction of green energy sources they must also be maintained and repaired, which brings jobs to America and strengthens our economy. Converting to green energy could also reduce the fossil fuel driven conflicts we have deeply invested in the middle east. Green energy and green infrastructure aren’t a big deal in today 's world because going green doesn’t make large corporations as much money as they do with fossil fuels and crude oil.
Do people really know what they are buying at the store? Do they know that most of the fruits and vegetables have pesticides in them? Do they know that there are some everyday activities that can help the environment? In Derrick Jensen and Stephanie McMillan “As the World Burns: 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Stay in Denial,” they talk about how everyone can help save our planet. For example, changing the light bulbs in the house to fluorescent light, riding bikes instead of driving, and recycling can also help.
Who will you argue with about the true shape of our planet? Cell phone users today cling to their devices as if they are a newborn baby. Carrying it around everywhere they go, showing it off to friends and family, doing whatever they can to protect it, and keeping it away from strangers. We have become obsessed with these “magical” hunks of metal. In fact, “50% of cell phone users feel uneasy when they leave phones at home”.
To decrease climate change, citizens can garden, reduce the use fossil fuels, and monitor where their food comes from. These life changes can make the ordinary citizen a combatant against global warming and climate

The human activities include rapid industrialization and urbanization, deforestation, excessive use of fertilizers in agriculture, excessive use of fuels, papers and many other manmade resources whereas natural activities include volcano eruption, forest fires, earthquakes etc. Emission of GHGs in the atmosphere leads to global warming which is one of the primary reasons behind the atmospheric changes that affect the human life directly or indirectly.
