Face Detection System using Skin Color Detection Algorithm

In this paper, a novel approach for human face detection from digital image is presented. This approach is based on skin color detection. This paper presents a Face Detection System that instantly detects faces in still images or video frames. In experiments on images having frontal faces with any background our system has achieved high detection rates and low false positives.

1. INTRODUCTION
Image processing to detect human face has become a very important application area in present time for surveillance and human

The correlations between an input image and the stored patterns are computed for detection. These methods have been used for both face localization and detection.
d) Appearance-based methods: - In contrast to template matching, the models (or templates) are learned from a set of training images which should capture the representative variability of facial appearance. These learned models are then used for detection. These methods are designed mainly for face detection.
For detecting face there are various algorithms including skin color based algorithms. Color is an important feature of human faces. Using skin-color as a feature for tracking a face has several advantages. Color processing is much faster than processing other facial features. Color based algorithm do not require any training and detect faces depending on human skin color.
