We need firefighters just as much as we need the military to protect our country. They also need money to maintain their apparatus. The main way fire companies get their money is through donations and fundraisers. They often put a lot of work into it and they don't get much money out of it. Because of this I propose that we make a tax. The tax money collected will go to federal fire departments. The amount of money will be decided on the amount of apparatus and the type of apparatus. If I were president, I would help firefighters and fire departments make more money. With the new money they will be able to also maintain their gear with this new gear because they can always use new gear. They can also get better training grounds. The training …show more content…
Also the types of pieces you have will determine how much you get. Then the amount of firefighters you have will then add on to how much you get. When you get the money then you will be able to get everything new that you need. Plus this money can be used to have a pay raise for the firefighter to make more money so he and his family can enjoy those precious moments together. The fire department they belong to will receive four thousand dollars for each firefighter. That money will be used to spend on the firefighters. The department will also receive twenty thousand dollars for each piece apparatus regardless of the type of piece. That money will not be included in with the type of peice. With all this money they will not have to do as many fundraisers that do not raise very much money. Instead of getting money through fundraisers, it will be in the form of a property tax. It will be one percent of every property value. The tax can increase if needed and it will increase by fifty percent. It will also account for any building that is on said property. Firefighters properties will be excluded from the tax as they already work hard enough fighting
One option, Policy A, would be to create a 0.25% increase in the state income tax for Oklahomans so public schools would receive pay raises to bring them to a similar level of surrounding states. This would keep teachers from leaving for surrounding states because of pay. They would be able to attract more qualified individuals into teaching because they will receive a better salary than they would have otherwise. This policy would be a taxation policy because it is increasing taxes to increase the pay of teachers in public schools.
More than 80 percent of budgeted expenditures are allocated to education, social services, public safety and judicial, fringe benefits, pensions, and general government. Spending in these areas totals almost $70 billion. From total of $84.67 billion amount, the New York police department found 5.6 billion in the FY18. The Fiscal 2017 Budget for NYPD as of the Fiscal 2018 Preliminary Plan shows an increase of approximately $277.6 million or five percent since adoption.
With this county being as big as it is there needs to be several stations to cover each area. There are fifteen total fire stations with five of them being volunteer and one of them being out of service (Eldorado County Fire Stations). As for specialty units, there really isn’t any, Eldorado County relies on surrounding agencies to assist with events such as HazMat rescue. Since the change and re organization of the agency, fire chief Michael Hardy has created a 5-year plan that involves creating a budget will work efficiently and effectively in maintaining equipment, while also paying sufficient salaries to the
Obviously, the majority of the revenue the state gets is from taxes. The remaining 3% comes from various smaller sources such as library fines, parking fines, late payment fees, deferred payment fees, interest income, etc. According to City Administrator John Kirby the basis for the annual grant was “an attempt to stem the trend of City Police Officers
Over the years, and that does not only include the time I have been an explorer, I have heard many attempts from many people to define the fire service. The definition I have heard that is most accurate to me is that the fire service is like a family. The family sticks together and helps each other out, but the family also tries to help others in need. And unlike other families, the fire service family has a special bond. Most firefighters have seen each other at their worst, seeing dead children or being exhausted at a fire call.
They are planning on spending 3.9 trillion dollars in tax money. Speaking of that, congress controls taxes and tariffs to fund for government services, and If enough money can’t be raised to fund the government, then Congress can borrow to make up the difference. Congress can mandate spending on specific items like legislatively directed spending. The legislative branch has the power to spend, borrow, create, and tax money. The legislative branch can literally stop making money or make trillions of
A firefighter needs to have a variety of skills such as evacuate fire structures and treat victims, suppress and extinguish fires with hoses pumps and additional apparatus’. Not everything a firefighter accomplishes involves fighting fires, and saving people, they also act as role models for the younger generation, and the community. A firefighter may have to participate and give a lesson in
A minimal increase in federal taxes or a slight decrease in senseless congressional spending would easily account for an increase in funding to
In conclusion, prescribed fires help out a lot. they can make our everyday life better if we use them more for the good of all living things. If we didn't use them, we might not be able to enjoy such a future. We might have many more wildfires than we ever expected in the future if we don't use prescribed fires.
: Firefighter Konecny consistently performs the duties of a firefighter. Home builders associations not only in the Richmond area, but even in other countries are strongly opposed to making residential fire sprinklers mandatory in new housing development. Construction companies are arguing that the materials they are using are fire resistive, and smoke detectors are now wired right in with your electrical system making them more reliable (Jeffery, 2008, para. 31). While these measures taken by builders certainly are a step in the right direction, they simply are not the final destination. Jeffery (2008) further explained that CTV News a local news station in the Ontario area, reported on a story involving children aging from 5 to adolescent, and their response to smoke detectors. The children understood that the smoke alarm would be activated, as well as what they were to do once they heard the alarm, however, when the alarm sounded not a single child got out of bed (para. 22).
During the 1980’s and 90’s, Texas was facing hundreds of lawsuits from various school districts. At the time, the policy seemed like the best way to solve the school-funding problem. The purpose of Robin Hood was to have a positive impact on all students, but the exact opposite happened. “The Robin Hood plan design caused substantial negative capitalization and shrunk its own tax base. It relied only heavily on high marginal tax rates.
Increasing the funding of schools would help establish more school resource officers and help equip them with better equipment. With more school funding, schools would be better prepared for gun violence catastrophes that could occur, and they would have a much better emergency plan in preparation for these events. With a better emergency plan for events such as gun violence, the lives of many children could be saved. An increase in school funding is almost certainly the best solution to gun violence in schools because there will always be mentally ill people that have a gun, and there is no way to stop this from happening, but there is a way to prepare for such events, which is better school
Firefighters have not always had the level of safety of today’s turnout gear. Historically, most firefighters fought fires from the outside and rarely entered the burning structure. Initially, firefighter's clothing was more for warmth and dryness than for protection from fire. In the early 1800’s felt caps were worn more for decoration than functional use and provided the firefighter with little to no head protection. In 1830, Henry Gratacap, a volunteer firefighter in New York City, invented the earliest version of the modern firefighter helmet.
In conclusion, firefighting started from a humble background in ancient Egypt with the simple gesture of building of a pump. From there, ideas grew, and more innovations discovered that has made it an outstanding professionalism it is today. The important role that firefighting plays in the society has seen it transform over the centuries since the third century. Cities have in the past been devastated by fire outbreaks with examples being London and major cities in America. It is safe to say, if those cities had not reconsidered the importance of firefighters, then they would have seized to exist.
