Going To College After High School

Being a first generation student in my family has always motivated my desire to succeed academically. So, I was always encouraged to put my education in front of everything else. I believe that going to college will help me figure out my hidden skills and develop my full potential to adjust in the real world. I want to be a psychologist, helping and counselling people. For this, I need to earn a doctorate degree. Besides, college will help me to meet new people, gain experience and skills to get a decent job.

Many people wonder what they want to do after high school graduation. There are many options to go with such as, military, college, or even taking a break for a little bit. Out of all of these though, going to college would be one of the best ideas because it can help a person a lot in their life. College is also a great opportunity to help get the things someone needs in their life. A college education is valuable because one can have better wealth, a better education, and can give one a healthier lifestyle.

It has taken many years for people in society to break out of the norms and expectations of how to grow up and live in the world. A huge factor in this “revolution”: attending college. Whether it is taking a gap year to discover the world and the waiting opportunities, or simply running with it all after high school to work, attending college isn’t considered a given anymore. Now not all cases are the same for every person, therefore they can only decide what is the best path for them after high school. Still, the benefits of a being a college graduate will never be diminished. Because in fact, that “gap year” could turn into two or even three years of sitting and deciding what to do in life. Or jumping right into working right after high school, leads to realizing there aren’t many jobs to provide and support oneself. Although many may continue to believe that attending college right after high school isn’t the right path for success, taking advantage of gaining a college education right away is essential for success in life because college broadens job and career opportunities and provides necessary experiences to thrive in the real world after school.

In the world we live in today. Going to college is no longer a choice, or privilege, but rather a need for a brighter future . So the big question that happens to be going around is, “Is College really worth it?”According to Andrew J. Rotherham’s article “Actually, college is very much worth it.”, “5 Ways Ed Pays”produced by (The College board), and “Why College Isn't (And Shouldn’t have to be) For Everyone” written by Robert Reich. The answer to that question is yes. Though there are many individuals who believe that college is not for everyone, attending college and getting a higher education can open the gates to many tremendous life changing opportunities such as becoming healthier, begin able to secure jobs, and earning more financially.

The decision to attend college immediately after high school is one of the many challenges high schoolers face upon graduating. There are several reasons why that attending college promptly after graduation is a good idea. It is more beneficial than waiting because one will already have the drive to continue on with school rather than waiting, one will also graduate sooner which in turn will result in better job opportunities, and one is more likely to apply one’s high school knowledge.

Do you think college is worth its cost? In an everyday society technology is changing every minute. College education will make sure that young adults are prepared for the new world and the challenges of working and being responsible citizens.Learning is always worthwhile. According to Rebecca Mead, staff writer for The New Yorker, college teaches students, "to nurture critical thought; to expose individuals to the signal accomplishments of humankind; to develop in them an ability not just to listen actively but to respond intelligently;" all of which "are habits of mind…from which a letter carrier, no less than a college professor, might derive a sense of self-worth."_ College also allows students to explore many different job opportunities.

A major benefit of going to college is the amount of opportunity that arises from having a degree. This will allow you to have a higher amount of job availability than those who did not complete college. For many people, college is an important key for their future. Some people go to college for the job opportunities and the new windows it can open. Others go just for the education and experience. A good education is beneficial from many different viewpoints; in truth, it is a possibility that one's adult life could be much harder than people care to think. One can have better wealth, is less likely to be unemployed, and a much higher chance of being closer to your family.

Many people go to college for many reasons the main one for most is to get a degree in something they think will give them better job opportunities which in return would allow them to have a better paying job then what they may have now. A lot of time ,effort and money go into college and so it’s understandable to think that once you’re done you’ll have a great job waiting for you . In a lot of cases it really doesn’t turn out that way, but either way college is well worth all the time and money someone puts into it.

Pursuing college after high school is something that I want to do. Going to college is a different experience for everyone and I want mine to be special. An HBCU will make my college experience something I will never forget. College tour will expose me to a few of the HBCU that interest me.

High school graduates are starting to feel that they must go to college. Students are consistently being bombarded with different ideas of what to do after high school, most of which require some type of schooling or degree. Instructors and counselors commonly persuade students to think that we only have one option to be successful with a college degree. College might not be for everyone! From my research, I found many articles on reasons why people go to college, reasons they do not go to college, and statistics on going and not going to college.

Attending college has always been a goal to complete, but why do parents think it is so important? A college degree is known to help have opportunities in the workforce later on. Having a degree will benefit when competing for jobs. College teaches skills that people have not come by, like being independent. Although college can be expensive when looking at the cost of tuition, extreme benefits will come attending the higher education. Attending college would benefit students in the future because it allows them to learn interpersonal skills, there are many jobs that require college degrees, and college graduates make more money.

Everyday you hear many different answers and bunch of different lectures of what you should and what shouldn’t you do. Having many honorable mentions such as Steve Jobs, Dave Thomas, or Kevin Rose shows that college after high school is not the only option. Four-Year Universities are not practical choice for most Americans students after High School because of the lack of preparation for a college education,Student are pressured that having a college degree is the only way to maintaining a stable financial life , and A college degree doesn 't pay off for years .

If one decides not to attend college, that person should reconsider, here are some reasons why a high school graduate should consider college as an option. Not going to college will leave you without a degree, leaving it will be a struggle when looking for a good job. High school graduates who decide not to go to college can go to a trade school or join the army to further their career as other options besides attending a University. With that being said what are some reasons to consider attending college? A college education is valuable because one can earn greater wealth, develop better social skills and most like have better health.

As a High School Junior looking at jaw dropping tuition prices, my family and I often ask ourselves a question I’m sure many other American households are challenged with: Is a college degree actually worth it? Once you look past the recent unemployment rate for college grads, you’ll find that a college degree proves to be highly beneficial once placed in a career. Degree holders often enjoy benefits such as higher pay, higher-skilled work, and an intellectual advantage over their coworkers that do not have a degree. These benefits often outweigh the seemingly outrageous cost of college, making the price tag more than worth it.
