Grizzly Bear

The Ursus arctos horriblilis mostly known as the Grizzly bear is a mammal and an Omnivore. At around the height of 2 meters it is a historic type of bear. It is famous for it’s massive claw’s and it large intake of food per day averaging at 30 kilo’s. As omnivores, Grizzly bears will eat anything nutritious that they can find, gorging foods ranging from roots to sheep. Their diet adapts depending on what foods are available for the season. The Grizzly bear is one of the biggest and most dangerous bear type that there is, in total there are 8 bear types. In North America, Grizzly bears are found in western Canada, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and a potentially a small population in Washington. Historically, they could be found from Alaska to Mexico and from California to Ohio. They prefer to stay in riparian areas along rivers and stream. The reason they prefer to inhabit these sorts of areas is due to that a lot of their prey is found there. Also, it doesn’t have very rough conditions that can trouble and affect their way of life. The Grizzly bears average life span is a staggering 20 years. The female’s can give birth to 1 or 2 cubs a year (research progress report). Grizzly bears have really adapted to their habitat. The most substantial adaption they make is when they adapt to survive the changing seasons. An adaption they make in winter is that they intake a staggering 40 kilo of food each day to create extra body fat to keep them warm and more protected throughout the winter. The Grizzly bears are primarily nocturnal and require dense cover for shelter during the day. At night or in the evening Grizzly bears will search for food.
