I am interested in the Harcum EFDA program therefore I am looking to enhance my knowledge and skills as a dental professional. By attending the program I will get the opportunity to share experience with other students. The program will also help me to prepare for becoming an EFDA and allow me to learn and explore all the tasks I will need to complete. Such as placing and carving amalgam and composite restorations, placing sealants, coronal polishing, application of fluoride, placing of bases and liners and placing and removing matrix bands, wedges and rubber dams. Education is the key to success in life. This program will help me to achieve my long-term goals by strengthen my academic skills and exposing me to the college environment. The
I am interested in joining GOAL Academy in its quest to provide students with alternative pathways to complete their high school education. This is sparked by my experience with students who require a different path to school success, including my work with at-risk secondary students in alternative programs and my own children, who benefitted from online education options. All can thrive given the structure offered by your program. Your passion to remove barriers and support students is something I share, both as a parent and a teacher.
I know that this program will be a very useful help in being college ready when I start in the fall and not being sure in what I have to and don’t have to do. Describe a personal challenge or adversity you’ve experienced and how you were able to overcome that obstacle (provide specific steps that were necessary) A personal challenge that I have experienced had to do with my whole family. My parents and my brother came to the United States to search for a better lifestyle like a lot of immigrants do. Along the way my mom had me, my twin sister, and my little sister and they decided to become US residents.
Growing up, my parents pushed me to do my best in school; I didn’t question it much, although looking back, I recognize that schooling is a vital component to be successful in life. I will be attending UNR this fall, the first in my family to do so. Being a first generation college student, my parents cannot provide any information regarding college classes, scholarships, or tutoring. I’ve worked diligently throughout high school but I cannot venture into college blind; TRiO would be a highly beneficial program enabling me to reach my potential in college.
Senior Fall Pathways Portfolio High school my year of success, potential and goals. For the past four years of high school, they have not been what I expected because I expected something more challenging and difficult to graduate. I also expected to experience things such as involvement in school activities. To not be categorized as your level of our understanding because that meant the high level students couldn’t really have a connection with the low improvement students. For example I’m not that high of a performing student

During this time, I happened to meet a friend who was doing dentistry abroad after finishing her post graduation in India. She told me about her learning experience there and the amount of exposure she had attained. Although I was very excited about the idea of applying to a post graduate programme in India, the encounter with my friend and researching about programs abroad made me realize that if I wanted to grow in dentistry I need to have access to the best education and cutting edge technology.
Allowing me to take part in the Pathway Program would dramatically improve my chance at succeeding in my future career objectives. The Pathway Program would provide me with a plan that would guide me from my senior year in high school, to and through NOVA, and then finally to a four-year university. One of the major benefits that this plan would provide me with is the removal of stress that I would otherwise have from having to research and apply to every college that I am eligible for. The Pathway Program would also provide me with recommendations surrounding the courses that would allow me to have the highest chance of success in my career field. Throughout high school, I have faced many challenges: frequent house relocations, lack of a
So when I began my high school career, I needed a guide, someone there to advise me through these four years. Joining Upward Bound was one of my proudest achievements because through this program, I have gained life, leadership, and academic skills that I would not have known otherwise. Preparing for the ACT numerous times, having resources to connect with colleges and
According to Good Shepherd Services (GSS) website ((Good Shepherds Services), their transfer school program has been developed in 50/50 partnership with the NYC Department of Education (DOE). This program serves young people between the ages of 16 and 21 who dropped out of school and think of coming back (usually over-age students); students who were not successful in regular school and off-track to graduating before they turn 21; usually students who enroll into the transfer school program have 50% less credits they would normally need to graduate on time. The “nationally recognized transfer high school model integrates the youth development practices and expertise of Good Shepherd within a rigorous, standards-based instructional setting”
As a first generation college bound student, after joining Upward Bound, I have gained the skills to recognize and be proactive when I am struggling academically. I am not only able to identify aspects that is causing me difficulties but also able to create a realistic plan that fits with my learning process. I have also gained the confidence, motivation, and skills to balance and multi-task a schedule that includes a full-time academic schedule, multiple extra-curricular activities, and community services. For example, when I decided to take dual enrollment college courses through Minnesota’s Postsecondary Education Option program, I still maintained my many commitments to Harding Senior High School and volunteer activities. At first it
Ayush Sah Mrs. Seeley Eng IV 3B 17 Sept 2015 Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extracurricular activities might help you achieve your goals. Growing up in an Asian family and heritage, I was always told to push myself to the limit. Being a hardworking student, I have taken challenging classes throughout my high school career.
