I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.
The National Honor Society is an exceptional organization that allows students to help the needy, children, the elderly, and non-profit organizations. I would be excited to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it presents to me. Joining NHS would allow me to grow as a person, and do as much as I can for others. Throughout my years as a student, I have shown great examples of scholarship, leadership, character and service that I believe would qualify to join this prestigious society. As Wikipedia defines it, the word scholarship means academic study or achievement; learning at a high level.
He allows his trainees and interns to practice the style they want to explore. It is refreshing to know that I have the flexibility. I have already been asked to start a support group as well, which I am grateful that I have had this class that I can believe to implement what I have learned. Goals and Student Learning Outcomes My goals that I established at the time was to stay in contact with my academic advisor, continue at the time to reach out to field
Serving in this capacity she has exhibited great drive, developing and administering a bevy of initiatives such as the SMARTS faculty/ staff mentoring program, Project Finish Line, and Early Alert Intervention. Her efforts have yielded positive results such as a nearly 90% fall-to-spring mentee persistence rate with the SMARTS program and the reclamation and graduation of several students via Project Finish Line. Cynthia Calhoun’s presence is a fixture at the Student Welcome Center which assists thousands of students as they are attempting to navigate through the uncertainties of a new term. On a personal note I have found Cynthia to be very cordial and compassionate. She has always had an open door policy, welcoming my company and has been an overflowing well of information.

The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. To recap, it is having a well-rounded education with just the right academics and activities best suited to your
These assessments are given before admission using Cognitive Ability Test (CAT4) or at the beginning of the curriculum year or before issuing the End of Term Reports using the Standardised Assessment Tests. The Summative assessment has secured a prominent role in the education system (Lambert and Lines, 2000) of the school still it holds within cons and pros: Observed Pros: • The Summative assessments are beneficial for the 95% of the school students whose families move continuously; students around the globe share the same set of assessments for they are learning the same curriculum. • Owing to the fact that they all teach the same curriculum regardless where they come from; The Summative assessments enhanced teachers’ collaboration and professional development. It allowed them to share their best practices with each other and apply it, as well as providing the opportunity for meaningful professional development as the education community is all on the same page. Needless to say everyone got along. In today’s world all different walks of life can get along by corresponding with each other in the school environment. Tolerance to diversity has become more and more normal. I now understand Pratts point of view looking back at high school and now being aware of the contact zone in college. Being a citizen of the United States of America I have been influenced by the community, to be an engaged citizen by getting involved, being aware of change, and adapting to it.
Now being at Rowan University I enjoy my profession and practice course as well as my life span development course. All three professors did not make the course dreading with meaningless homework. They would make sure you studied exactly what you needed to study, they gave you assignments that would help you with your career goals, the professors made the course a course that you can say you enjoyed and took something from it. So attending grad school is something that I find will be useful so I can be exactly where I need to be and gain all the experience and then some before working the youth. As you can see I always had a passion for working with children ever since I was young which is why my future goals are to build my own recreation center for kids eight to eighteen which will be called “Kinship Unity”.
Starting off my list of goals I want to start by finishing my school year out strong and work to my best ability to accomplish them. An example of a goal I have is to make it on the all A honor roll for all four quarters, and to receive the scholarships that I applied for. Other goals that come to mind is getting into the college I applied for, and sustain a high GPA to accomplish other goals at college. With these goals I have set for my life ahead, it will help me work to my highest potential. Another goal I have is to be a great leader/ role model for not only my family, underclassmen, but my community.
I perform well on my classwork, tests, and quizzes. My work ethic and study habits are strong. Quizlet, flashcards, and notes are all study tools I use. I have been on Honor Roll for each year at Jack Jouett Middle School and get all A 's. When confused about a concept, I always ask for help early so I understand it before the unit becomes further difficult.
I think that I should be chosen for Link Crew because I am always able to help out, give directions to lost freshmen, influence them in a positive manner, and be a kind upperclassman. I get good grades, I’m in all honors classes, I participate in a sport year round, inside and outside of school. I am involved in Calling all Colors here at Mona Shores High School, which is a group about tolerance and accepting other, and teaching others at our school how to make everyone feel equally welcome. I plan to keep in touch with my 9th graders by doing little things for them through the year, like dropping off little items to their classes; just like I was given as a freshman. I plan to say hello in the hallways and let them all know on August 31st, for freshman orientation that if they every have any questions, that I am easy to get ahold of.
I’ve always been in Honors classes and get good grades, currently I have a GPA of 3.4 but am striving to better myself and get a 4.0. I try to always have a positive outlook on situations and prepare myself for challenging ones. I have great teamwork skills and I work great with different types of people even disabled/special needs. The philosophy of Capital One is “Hire great people and give them the opportunity to be great.” Meaning give one a chance to see how good they can be. I don’t want just a job at Capital One I want a career with Capital One.
To me an organization such as the National Honor Society (NHS) is a way for me to strive to do my very best. Not only would it help me try to keep up with my grades, it will also make me more involved with my community through service and leadership. To me NHS is a way to shine through leadership and character in and out of school. It’s also an opportunity to learn how to cooperate with others and their communities. If I am selected to this group, I would contribute to the continued growth and success of the National Honor Society by setting high standards in my grades and achievements.
