Hidden Traits Throughout the novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, there are is a wide variety of different themes presented, but some are more prominent than others. One of the controlling ideas in the book was: when people are faced with the threat of death and tragedy it causes their strongest to traits to surface, and their true character immerges. Mrs. Collins does a great job of projecting these morals through the protagonist of the story, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss gradually reveals her hidden strength and defiance as the story progresses.
The film "The Hunger Games" directed by Gary Ross is an amazing fictional story. An interesting character in the film is Katniss Everdene, the heroine of the film. However, there 's some of the part that I like and dislike in this movie. First of all, what I like in this film is the characters in The Hunger Games is very interesting.
Imagine you just won the hunger games, the horror of having to kill other kids until there was only one winner for the entertainment of the capitol. Now you are thrown right back into the games against the other winner throughout the years for another games back to back, now you must survive against 23 people again. Again this happens to Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark for the Quarter Quell which happens every 25 years and this year the winners of each district get picked divided to do the games once again, just another way for the capitol to get their revenge. For this book, I will be exploring how Katniss changes throughout the book, the theme of the overall book, and how Katniss makes it in the games once again.
For this task I will be presenting about Katniss Everdeen from the hunger games and how she is a tragic hero and I will be relating this back to the greek hero Oedipus. What makes a hero, a hero as stated by the reproject “Are people who transform compassion (a personal virtue) into heroic action (a civic virtue). In doing so, they put their best selves forward in service to humanity. A hero is as an individual or a network of people that take action on behalf of others in need, or in defense of integrity or a moral cause” (prezi.com). As you all know Katniss is the main character of hunger games and is identified as a tragic hero from the beginning to the end of the story.
Comparison Paper: The Hunger Games The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is all about Katniss Everdeen volunteering as tribute from District 12 to fight for her life at the city of Panem in the hunger games. Katniss is the protagonist of the novel. She is very quiet, humble and intelligent girl. Katniss is an excellent hunter, archer, gatherer, and trapper, skilled just like her deceased father.
Courage is defined as the ability to do something that frightens one. All children dream of finding themselves in dangerous situations and rising above everyone else in the situation to become a hero. Friedrich Nietzsche was also a cultural critic, poet, philologist, and Latin and Greek scholar, who wrote poems mainly about the non-existence of God. This quote from him explains how we suffer in life and when we survive we find the reason for us suffering and learn from it, or better ourselves during our suffering. In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, she illustrates through her symbolism and characterization that survival is the result of strength. Suzanne Collins uses characterization to present how survival is a result when someone or something has strength.
Into The Wild portrays a man who went on a fatal unforgettable journey through the alaska wilderness. Chris McCandless was a man with great courage and the ability to live on his own made him more of a hero going on his fatal journey. Many would say he was foolish or not thinking right, but that is not the case. The case here is simply a man with courage wanting to fulfill is beliefs through his journey. One may ask what is courage.
Characterization – Katniss Everdeen Katniss Everdeen is an average-height, attractive woman with blue eyes. She is of medium build and has medium-length black hair, which is mostly braided. At the age of 16 she volunteers as a tribute in order to save her sister from the annual hunger games. She is selfless, as shown by her sacrifice.
