The topic of this controversial essay will be about is the legalization of marijuana. I will be advocating for the legalization of marijuana. The legalization of marijuana is so controversial because it was outlawed in the past, but now people are discovering new things it could do and wish to have it legalized once again. The legalization of marijuana can offer medical benefits, generate a lot of tax money, and decreases prisoner space.
Dementia is a complex disease that’s made up of many parts. There isn’t just one form of dementia, rather there are multiple different forms of dementia, each having their own set of symptoms that can be distinguished from other forms of dementia. Nonetheless, the umbrella term for dementia is an “impairment of thought and behavior that disrupt everyday life” (McCrory, PP, Ch. 17, Slide 18). Symptoms affecting dementia as a whole are the following: memory, thinking, and social abilities (McCrory, PP, Ch. 17, Slide 19). Nonetheless, it’s important to understand that a little memory loss is normal in old age. Therefore, just because you may know someone that has some memory loss doesn’t mean that they suffer from dementia. One of the clear-cut
This semester I cared for resident JT. JT is diagnosed with dementia, which is a form of chronic confusion. Evidence from JT’s physical assessment that supports this diagnosis is her mental status. In her patient chart, it states that JT is alert with confusion. During my physical assessment, JT was alert and oriented times two. JT could identify herself and was aware of her surroundings. However, she was not oriented to time; she believed the year was 1931. Relating to the concept of chronic confusion, assessing arousal, orientation and attention to environment is a way to measure chronic confusion (Wilkerson, 2017 p. 168). Other medical concerns include her vision impairment. JT is blind in her left eye she also has glaucoma

We can forget information through decay which is the when memories fade away that happens in sensory and short-term memory. Interference can cause us to forget because it is a memory blocking or deleting another memory. Two types of interference are retroactive and proactive interference. Retroactive interference is when new information interferes with the old information. Proactive interference is when old information interferes with the new information. We can also repress our memories which means that we push the unwanted memory so deep inside the mind it becomes outside of our awareness. Cue-dependent forgetting is the most common type of forgetting which is when we cannot access a memory because we don’t have enough retrieval cues. State-dependent learning is important because we can access memories better if we are in the same environmental and emotional state. Retrograde amnesia is when we lose memories before an event occurred. Anterograde amnesia is when we can’t form new memories after an event occurs. A study that exemplifies forgetting is Millner & Scoville (1957) study on H.M. They found out that H.M could no longer be able to form new memories because the hippocampus is needed to transfer short-term memories into long-term memories. Since H.M is no longer able to form new memories, he suffers from anterograde amnesia. (Millner & Scoville,
Using essential oils for stress relief is a great natural alternative. Stress affects over fifty percent of all adults and can have some very serious affects on their health. This person may have dementia. Becky Kane was interviewed about her experiences dealing with people who were determined to have dementia.

In the United States, more than five million people are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease (Marsa). Some cases can be mild due to a later development in life. Because the disease develops later in life a patient will die before symptoms become severe. In most cases a patient will go through a progression of symptoms leading to death (Glicksman).
