Introduction India is one of the oldest civilizations dating back over 5,000 years. The Indian culture is an amalgamation of various cultures, ethics and beliefs, which has been influenced and shaped by the history that is shaped thousand years ago. Youth is the greatest wealth of a nation and these shoulders of nation are the most important and dynamic segment of the society. This misunderstanding occurs primarily because Indian child rearing is self-explanatory rather than restrictive. Indian children are generally raised in an atmosphere of love. A great deal of attention is lavished on them by a large array of relatives, usually including many surrogate mothers and fathers. With such an atmosphere around, a child’s values and morals are enriched. The Indian values make a person honest and loyal towards the company. A foreigner is generally an opportunist, so are the Indian people but they are grateful first and then look for opportunity. A non-Indian may leave his/her job because of more money offered but for an Indian his morals and teachings do not allow him to leave his job easily. These new parameters if introduced to judge the Indian youth on employability scale would definitely prove Indians best for an organization. This quality of Indian youth gives the concept of ‘integrity’ among the youths.Ethics and culture are two sides of the same coin called moral. We force a moral acceptance and retrospection to prove their authenticity in good times. It is our unique culture of self-evaluation that makes us compatible for foreign markets. Business world across the globe has started looking forward towards India, for ethical business models. One of the strong reasons why India succeeded in coming out of the global financial turmoil almost untarnished was its ethical support system which is ingrained in the culture of this country. Culture of a country is much more than its beliefs and customs. It is the commonly held philosophy of its people towards core values. According to a confidential survey taken in 2002 of 12,000 students, 74 percent admitted to cheating on a test at least once in the last year. This is an appalling number. College students are in the mindset now, because so many people are doing it, that cheating is not wrong so they are doing it regularly. Are people even learning anything in college anymore, or are they just there to learn how to beat the system?
In my journal I will discuss the three important elements of ethics, morality, and integrity that will relate to your desired role in the field of criminal justice. And then explain the role of ethics and integrity in the criminal justice profession, and the higher standard expected of criminal justice professionals. I believe ethics is the foundation of the criminal justice system; ethics helped officers develop morals that will be used in the performance of their duties. It helps officers understand and explain criminal activity, and what society deem as acceptable punishment. Ethics is important because the criminal justice system is effective when officers perform their duties in an ethical manner.
Summary of “Academic Integrity” by Arden Miller and Adena D. Young-Jones Which one do you believe cheats more in schools, an online course or a face to face course? Arden Miller and Adena Young-Jones did an article over which one tended to be worse when they found results that were kind of shocking. Of course you expect an online course to cheat more but that was not the case. The results really varied on who the person was, sexuality, age, and other personalities of a person. Arden and Adena, both took surveys of “639 students in both types of classes.
A career in policing requires an individual to meet a high standard for character and demonstrated behavior, in order to be developed into an effective officer. Succeeding in a police academy requires the candidate to display and apply integrity, a skill which must be developed before receiving admission. Integrity demonstrated through a police officer’s personal life, provides the foundation for a respected career. When presented with the opportunity to leverage a peace officer’s position for personal profit, an individual who has previously made selfless choices, is more reliable for operating within the law. Integrity as a term has the social implication of following ones beliefs, regardless of the opposition.
Indians are very committed towards their relationship and try their level best to work it out. Moreover, the amount of respect Indians give to elders is far more. These traits were found missing in the girl. Hence, the girl faced a lot of problem after returning to India. Her parents could have nurtured her with more tolerance towards Indian culture but it’s also seen that it would be very difficult to do so living in Europe.
Integrity is a term used to describe a person 's level of honesty, moral commitments, and willingness to do what 's right. Choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy, and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Given the real definition of integrity, we recognize that it is actually extremely difficult to be in integrity 100% of the time. We aspire to be in integrity with what we believe but sometimes, we mess up. Sometimes, our emotions get the best of us and we are unable to manage our behavior and actions.
In an article authored by Urvashi Agarwal on the role of females in Indian culture, she even points out the difference in emotions between the birth of a girl and boy: “sohras – the joyous songs of celebration sung at the birth of a child in the Hindi-speaking belt – are almost never sung for newborn daughters. Indeed, many sohras express the mother’s relief that this has not been the case and her worst fears have been proven to be unfounded” (Agarawal). This indifference towards females acts a specific example that shows undoubtedly that they are seen below men in the Indian hierarchy. In most conflicts involving an Indian family, it is safe to say that there is a presumption that the person higher up in social status, or in the case of Monsoon Wedding, the older and male Tej, would have the benefit of the doubt over a young girl like Ria. In addition, Lalit and the family were tremendously indebted to Tej, as he not only offers to pay for Ria’s entire American college education, but for the wedding as well.

In India people between the ages of 15 and 58 are considered to be economically active which means that they have the potential of being gainfully employed. A large portion of India’s workforce is unskilled. Thus skilling and up-skilling of the labour force is required so that the unemployed population of the country can be productively employed. One of the biggest challenges facing the country today is to gainfully employ its growing labour force for greater economic growth.
