Jim Crow was not a person, it was a series of laws that imposed legal segregation between white Americans and African Americans in the American South. It promoting the status “Separate but Equal”, but for the African American community that was not the case. African Americans were continuously ridiculed, and were treated as inferiors. As current time and social status are being challenged and pushed, the Jim Crow Laws were implemented. These state and local laws were just legislated this year, 1877. New implemented laws mandate segregation in all public facilities, with a “separate but equal” status for African Americans. This may lead to treatment and accommodations that are inferior to those provided to white Americans, systematizing a number of economic, educational, and social disadvantages.
Out of all the texts i analyzed in this unit so far, my favorite would have to be the Jim Crow Laws. I personally liked this one more due to the chaos and absurdity of the laws. I took an interest in it and i was most entertained while writing the prompt and while reading about it. The source i used was Rise and Fall of Jim Crow Laws PBS, it was very informative and the visuals of the website gave me a better understanding of what it was like in the past.
Slavery ended in 1865, not "300 years ago". Slavery was allowed and defended by the law up until that date. As soon as the war was over, Jim Crow laws and the KKK prevented black people from advancing economically. Redlining was legal. All of this legally protected economic explotiation of black people has resulted in centuries of theft of labor from people over their skin color.

Board of Education, it was declared that separate public schools for black and white students was unconstitutional. However, before this, the segregation of schools was a common practice throughout the country. In the 1950s there were many differences in the way that black public schools and white public schools were treated with very few similarities. The differences between the black and white schools encouraged racism which made the amount of discrimination against blacks even greater.

To give you a brief description about the Fourteenth Amendment, The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified on July 9, 1868 in the US Constitution. The Fourteenth Amendment broad goal was to ensure that the Civil Rights Act passed in 1866 would remain valid ensuring that "all persons born in the United States..." people that are born in the United States of America are given citizenship.
