Many events happened before this massacre, such as when the country was invaded and many people were captured. In the year 1939, both Germany and the USSR invaded Poland and split the country. Many Polish people feared the Nazis more than the Soviet because all the Polish people thought the Nazis would just kill them. There were 2 suspects for this crime, the Nazis and the Soviet Union.
Stalin also purged people for the slightest and most bewildering reasons. From the article, “the Georgian-born leader is mostly known for overseeing a reign of terror in which millions of people were murdered or forced to work in labor camps.” This shows that Stalin was infamous for inflicting terror on the Russians, to coerce them to comply to his policies and commands. Otherwise, they would either be killed or thrown into a labor
When Ukrainian farmers refused to give up their land, Stalin took away their crops, and as a result, about 10 million Ukrainians starved. Sergey Kirov, a political rival of Stalin, was found murdered in 1934. Stalin, although believed to be behind the murder, used this opportunity to further reduce the numbers of his political rivals, and those who opposed him. Stalin arrested thousands of men (who ‘coincidentally’ opposed him), and imprisoned and executed them. Stalin also used his power to close arrest thousands of religious leaders, and close down nearly all churches, instead replacing them with icons of himself.

His reasoning was that if there was no government, there would be chaos.
“My friends of Hillsboro, you know why I have come here. I have not come merely to prosecute a lawbreaker, an arrogant youth who has spoken out against the Revealed Word”. In this part of the book it shows how the people did not open up to this change because they thought darwinism was evil. The Kulaks in Ukraine resisted collectivization, and murdered officials, torched the property of collectives, and even burned down their own crops in protest. Stalin declared that they should liquidate the Kulaks as a class. Adrian Karatnycky wrote “Ukrainian victims of starvation at 4.5 million to 7 million... Stalin used the forced famine as a part of a political strategy whose aim was to crush all vestiges of Ukrainian national sentiments. ”(Document 7)
After Lenin's death, in 1924, Stalin set out to destroy the old party leadership and take total control. At first, he had people removed from power through bureaucratic shuffling and denunciations. Many were exiled abroad to Europe and the Americas, including presumed Lenin successor Leon Trotsky. However, further paranoia set in and Stalin soon conducted a vast reign of terror, having people arrested in the night and put before spectacular show trials. Potential rivals were accused of aligning with capitalist nations, convicted of being "enemies of the people" and summarily executed.
so according to “god” anyone who cuts their hair or shaves will go to hell. this makes Bryan a hypocrite and according to his beliefs he should be put on trial. He simply doesn’t give America enough credit. The first section of Overthrow explains “regime changes” based on imperialistic grounds. Because of this of this reason, the U.S. seemed to have no business overthrowing governments and could not handle them. However, he fails to realize how all of this is largely understandable.
An average North Korean has no idea just how much better, comparably, life is outside North Korea. They are taught from birth to grave that the outside world is monstrous and hostile. Over history, many nations have had political leaders that have impacted the world. A Political leader is a leader who is heavily affiliated with their political party in pushing their ideologies and policies. They will change the course of history with their policies and influence their society. Many political leaders use methods such as force, promises, and deception to gain power. Two examples of political leaders who attained power and made a huge impact in their societies are Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.
Joseph Stalin’s determination greatly affected his leadership and led to the beginnings of the Cold War. His determination allowed him to rise to power and destroy all opposition against his reign. The Great Purge, one of the greatest terrors in history, was also done due to his determination to stay in power. This same determination led to, as well as shaped, many of the events of World War 2. His leadership was very similar to the leadership of Adolf Hitler, yet because of his determination, was quite different, and quite possibly more effective.
