For example, in September of 2009, Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech after she won the award for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards (Know Your Meme). He got on stage, took the microphone from Taylor Swift, and proceeded telling the audience that Beyoncé had “one of the best videos of all time” (Alessandro R. C. ). Therefore, the chosen meme is ironic because the creator seems to be asking for the kind of love a conceited person has for himself or herself. When in search of love, one does not typically desire selfish qualities in their spouse or mate. However, the meme suggests the creator wants to have a love like Kanye has for himself. Wanting a selfish love is ironic since selfish individuals only have love for themselves and do not have the ability to love another.
