It is with my pleasure that I am writing this letter of recommendation for Ms. Angie Sanderfoot. Ms. Sanderfoot is a valuable member of our Green Bay Area Public Schools Assessment Team. I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Sanderfoot for the past two years. Ms. Sanderfoot served as Southwest High School’s building school psychologist and has since transitioned into a district assessment team position continuing to support Southwest High School with evaluations. During our short time working together, she has proven to be an exceptional asset to Southwest High School and the Green Bay Area Public School District.
Ms. Sanderfoot’s student first philosophy and work ethic are a strong combination for anyone looking for a skilled school psychologist. She has an innate ability to coordinate complex responsibilities associated with her role as a school psychologist. Sanderfoot continues to work closely with Southwest staff on initial evaluations and re-evaluations. She was an active member of the district team that put developed our district-wide evaluation manual. She provides support to our building school psychologist and myself on the evaluation process that is detailed out within the manual. Through her guidance, I am able to better support my staff with the evaluation process. While interviewing school counselor, Melissa Gomes from Friendship Southeast Elementary Public Charter School, I was able to obtain a lot of information pertaining to a school counselor’s profession. Although, I have acquired plenty of information about a school counselor occupation throughout the last year and half of attending Trinity, the interview was very beneficial and knowledgeable. Schools regularly have many external professionals who work with them, and these can include: educational psychologists; speech and language therapists; specialist teachers; Education Welfare Officers; School Improvement Partners; and physiotherapists/occupational therapists. An educational psychologist is assigned to a school and they work closely with SENCO providing pupil observations and assessments, helping to plan the provision for those with additional needs. A school will have links with speech and language therapists who can work with pupils to help with communication, language and speech problems.
Dear Local School Board Members, I am an after school tutor for Glacier Point Middle School in the central district. Although I’ve only been at Glacier Point for two years, I was previously working as a teacher’s aide at Wilson School Elementary School in Tulare school district. I am writing because, like you, I want to see the students in our school succeed. I am writing because, like you, I want to see the students in our schools succeed. When EPS allocate the child’s needs, then they have to present their findings to the school and their parents. Educational psychologists (EPS) spend time with a specific child to provide assessments such as observation and recommendation to find out the reason of their behaviour problem and learning difficulties. Eps needs to collect information to assess the child’s needs by analysing how the child is doing with their school work and how they approach their learning, observation in the classroom and considerations of their emotional, social development and their behaviour. Speech and language therapist are working with children who have difficulties in speech, language, and social communication difficulties as well as with their eating, drinking and swallowing as they are working closely with the child, their parents and also with the school to support the child to reach their maximum communication
Case Scenario Practicing in a school setting, there are numerous individuals in the same building looking to positively impact and change students’ lives. Interdisciplinary staff consistently work together to meet the various needs of the diverse student population. As the social worker, I am privy to the strengths and weaknesses of clients as they are presented to me by the student and his/her family and shared in interdisciplinary team meetings upon the consent to do so by the student’s parent(s) or guardian(s). Teachers are only present and involved in the interdisciplinary meetings when a student assigned to their class is being discussed.
