Maze Runner starts with a young teenage boy who wakes up in an elevator and he has no memory at all, except for his name, Thomas. When the doors to the elevator open he finds himself surrounded by a bunch of teenage boys who recall nothing but their names as well. Once Thomas was introduced to everyone, he looks around to where he was stuck. He learns, they are all trapped and discover that it’s a maze. There were four giant walls that had doors that opened every day and closes at night. They also had figured out how to live and survive by farming and they made homes for themselves. The Glade, (which is what they called the area), was run by two main teenagers. The main leaders of the group being Newt and Alby. The reason they are the leaders …show more content…

But on the way back to tell all of the people what he had found, on the back he was he was stung by a griever but was safely brought back by a friend who was with him. When he was stung by the Griever he got lots of his memory back. Part of his memory was about how to exit out of the maze. Because it was about a whole bunch of young teenagers who were put to a test of to escape from a maze. But in all of that, it was teaching me how to use group effort and making them really think what would I do if I was in this situation. I really like the where the author had put the setting in, it was a giant square where people could produce food to live off of, and he did not use much more than that. The author had put these young teenagers in a setting where they actually had to work for everything, and every single person had a job to do. I didn't really like how there were leaders I mean I know why the author added them but one was really annoying and a jerk to some people. But I think it would have been better if everyone was put at the same level and made decisions together instead of two people that get to make the final decision. I also like the plot to the story where there were many very intelligent people in the maze but the author chooses this one kid is immune to the disease that has broken out(the flare), and the character is not very strong but he is very smart. My favourite part was how he was given a bit of his memory back. He had to be stung by a Griever to get it back, I liked it because I thought it was like knocking some sense back into him. I found the end not very satisfying the book didn't really explain much on why they did the test on these teenagers and what they were looking for. But I think
Pan’s Labyrinth – Literature Review I. Introduction – historical background The Spanish Civil War lasted from July of 1936 till April of 1939. The intensely ferocious war was between the Republicans and the Fascist nationalists, lead by General Francisco Franco. Victory was in favor of the nationalists and General Franco ruled Spain for the next 36 years after the war, up until his death in 1975.
It showed that the pressure of always being perfect and beautiful was hard on her. I also liked that most students can relate to being pressured to be something they’re not. I disliked that I felt the length of the book on multiple occasions. I identified with Paige because I have also been pressured to be someone I don’t want to be. In the story, Paige is pressured to be perfect and make no mistakes and this often happens in real life.
This book was interesting for me because it allowed me to relate to a character. I love reading novels that not only allow me to feel a connection with a character, but allow me to relate to their personality or
I think this book is very creative, because of the way the book is written and how the emotions
Lester uses this unique feature to describe what our favorite characters will end up doing in the future, which I really liked. There are also many instances of good symbolism in this story. I also thought this book had an intriguing plotline that made me want to keep reading.
The story and the characters really stood out to me. They really expressed themselves and the setting in the story was very cool to learn about. I enjoyed the pictures in the book because they guide the reader into the setting and the time period in the book. I recommend this book to people who are interested in learning about World War II and people who are interested in biographies and survival stories. One of my favorite quotes from the book was “A lifetime of glory is worth a moment of pain.”
The story really brought out a lot of emotions out of me. Some parts I enjoyed over others but it had me hooked from the start. I think that we learn that things do get better over time and we should really start appreciating friends and family more than we already are. Overall I think that the book had nice themes in it, definitely a must
Also this book was easy to understand and did not take too long to read. At the end of the novel Gene explains that Finny was different because of his lack of fear. I liked this ending because it is interesting to read about a teenager that has no fear. For the text to text, text to self and text to world connections are all kind of similar in this book.
His dread of the figurative characters inside his head allows him to comprehend his general surroundings. The monsters that lived in his head as well as the ‘abandoned house’ mirrors the "monstrous" wrongdoing that has been committed by the grown-ups of Acqua Traverse. After the discovery of the ‘boy in the hole’ his fear of the ‘bogeymen’ becomes a reality after realising that his father has been
In this book report I will talk about the book “The outsiders” written by S.E. Hinton, I will do a review of the story, the point of view, theme, symbols and my opinion about this book I really liked to read for the English class. The story is about a boy named Ponyboy who lived in a small town in Texas with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop were a gang war was taking place between two different social class people: The Socs and the Greasers. Ponyboy will learn the consequences bad acts can bring to your life in the middle of a gang war. The greasers were a middle class and not so social kind of people who liked to get in trouble and The other gang The Socs were a most of them a high class or middle-high class group of people who where they went they will always go in groups of like three or four people.
For example, the Gladers thought that they will never make it out of the Maze, but they took chances and by doing that they were able to successfully escape the Maze. Other themes include, friendship, bravery, persistence, and reflection. In the novel, at one point Thomas witnessed two people struggling to get inside the walls of the maze, so Thomas decided to go inside the maze and help them out. He was then assigned to be in the Slammer for a day because of him breaking the number 1 rule, which is to never enter the maze unless you are a runner. "I didn 't do anything wrong.
The book and movie that I read is called The Lion, The Witch ,and The Wardrobe. It was written by C.S Lewis, and the movie was produced by Andrew Adamson. The book and the movie were about this family who had to move because of Air Raids. There were two brothers named Peter and Edmund and two sisters named Susan and Lucy. They stay in a profferer 's house.
Universal themes are apparent across time, culture, and place, which are evident in all stories. For example, The Maze Runner by James Dashner exposes universal themes in a dystopian science fiction society. Some universal themes that appear in this movie are heroic scenarios, social cohesion, interesting ways in which the story is told, and building empathy. Heroic scenarios are when a character jumps in at an attempt to save the day. In The Maze Runner, Thomas was often the hero.
Running the Maze Imagine being trapped inside of a place with no memory of how you got there and the only way to get out was through a maze. James Dashner’s young adult, science fiction novel, The Maze Runner is about just that. There were a brunch of themes in the novel but the most important ones were maintaining rules and orders, making sacrifices, never giving up, and manipulation, even though something may look simple it might be harder than it seems. All these themes were practiced by Thomas and other Gladers in the Glade. Dashner also wrote the sequels to the Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials and Death Cure.
‘How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!’.” This quote heavily impacted Alaska because she realized its relevance to her confusing life. The labyrinth takes on a more significant meaning in the second half of the book because Miles is deeply affected by Alaska’s death, and he needs to understand the role of the labyrinth in his life and understand how it affected Alaska’s final moments in order to move on.
