There are many different substances available or added to the soil that can assist in plant growth. The main elements needed for plant growth are Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen which the plant gets from the air and water. There are other macronutrients which include Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium which the plant either gets from decaying organic material or fertilizer.There are other minor nutrients a plant needs for growth such as Sulfur Calcium, Magnesium, Copper, and Iron. These elements are found naturally occurring or are added to fertilizer. People throughout history have used fertilizer to improve plant growth beginning with Native Americans who added a dead fish to plants coming to today where we use either chemical or organic fertilizers. …show more content…

These problems have happened in the past like specific incidents in 2008 and 2012, but the company has gotten better by removing the products that included these chemicals. However many people prefer to use a fertilizer that is made up of ingredients that the consumer can trust. Miracle Gro can be healthy and safe for plants if you use the organic fertilizer form.
