This is an image that I stumbled upon as I was browsing through my instagram feed. The unique architecture, different colors, and interesting visual elements stood out to me and made me want to perceive the meaning of this image. After reading chapter 2, I was able to identify the form, color, depth, and perspective. Each of these visual cues are present and work together to give this image more meaning and visual appeal. In terms of form, the triangle shape is dominant in this image because there are a lot of them and they are also very large in size. 28). In terms of color and depth, there are two main colors that I sensed and selected in the image, purple and emerald green. Both of these colors are distinct and have symbolic meaning within them. “Emerald green connotes versatility and ingenuity” (Lester, 2014, p. 19). Purple also has significant meaning as it can represent “power and ambition” (Bourn, 2016). These colors combined with the triangle architecture create a strong message about ones journey through life. In regards to depth, in the image there is a path that is located below the triangle structures which highlights the illusionary perspective. “An illusionary perspective can be achieved through size, color, lighting, interposition, and linear perspective” (Lester, 2014, p. 34). The parallel path appears to get smaller and closer together as it gets farther away. The farther the path goes the smaller the triangles also appear to be. This is known as the linear perspective.
