The first pitch crack of the ball off the bat a triple. The next 3 kids hit doubles. The first Batter was up to the plate. He had hit the ball right to our third basemen, but he fielded it too quick and bobbled it.The batter had made it to first base. It was something we could not have.
When I got on base, I stole third with one out in the inning. The next batter hit the ball to the outfielder, but it was right at the fielder. I tried to score, but the throw was on point and I got out. My mom told me good job and that made me feel better. My coach told me the it was a good attempt.
For a young baseball player one of the highest goals to achieve is hitting a homerun -for me that was all I wanted. I already achieved most of what I wanted in baseball, and one of my proudest was a no-hitter, but it was no home run. When I first realized how bad I wanted this feat was one night after a practice where all we did was just hit. The majority of my teammates hit at least one homerun that practice, but me I hit the fence but never was able to send one over. The car ride home after the practice was horrible, I was a mess.
You play catcher, third base, and really want to be a pitcher too. Then one day in the middle of the season at practice your right knee starts to feel funny. Next thing you know you’re running to catch a pop fly and your knee gives out. You tell the coach and worry about being able to play anymore while icing your knee. Well, all of this and much more happened to me in my middle and high school softball career.
The baseball flies by me in a flash into the catcher 's mitt, and the umpire calls a ball on the pitch! Then something in my head says “run”, and without hesitation I sprint down the line to first base. Little did I know that my first baseball game would haunt me for years to come. It was the first game of Baseball season, and I was ready to represent my school on the field. It was the second inning and we were down by one, and it was my turn to bat.
I take one foot out of the box and let out a breathe I didn’t know I was holding in. I once again looked to my coach Mike for direction and go to take a practice swing. Little did I know the catcher was getting up to pressure Maddy back to first base from her lead. As I was taking my swing I heard a thud, my bat had hit something solid. I immediately filled with remorse and tensed up.
We had to whatever it took to win this game. With one single crack of the bat, I was off! The ball made it right over the head of the third basemen and the left fielder completely misjudged it, he gave me 10 extra feet! The crowd was boisterous! Screaming my name and cheering me on.
Galusky drove a two-run blast over the left field wall, scoring Braden Zarbnisky. Continuing his dominance, Grove sat down TCU in order in the third. And the Mountaineers followed suite with a two-run bomb from Kyle Davis. However, the Horned Frogs showed why they are one of the nation 's top teams and battled back. With two outs, Luken Baker singled through the left side, knocking in Cam Warner.
In the first game of the tournament I was playing left. A girl was up to bat and popped the ball up to me. I caught it and threw it to 2nd and got that girl out too. Throughout that year I recorded more double plays, and almost all of them were in the same style as the initial one. I feel very admirable when I make a good defensive play to help the team win.
We all thought this was going to be an easy win from hear. “We easily got this” Dylan shouted at me over from first base “I know we just gotta get three outs” I hollered back The first pitch was a strike right up the middle no chance for me or derek to get to, on the very next pitch the runner stole second base. “Lets bounce back boys” Coach yelled from the bench. “Ya guys were good” Derek
