Close the Gun Show Loophole . “If it’s OK to register cars and license drivers, why is it not OK to impose similar legal responsibilities on gun owners?” (Steven King). In most places in the United States people are required to register their weapons, so the government is able to track sales, but there is a different story at gun shows. People at gun shows can effortlessly get their hands on weapons illegally. These weapons are sold through private-party sellers without background checks or identification.
People that are fearful of mass shootings or tragedies caused by weapons have to realize that guns are needed to stop the tragedy weather it is a regular citizen or a police officer. Guns are not bad it is people that make them bad. Instead of banning guns catching criminals would be much more efficient. Gun laws are not going to solve problems they will only create more. Weather guns are used for protection or hunting or just going to the shooting range they have been around in the US for centuries and always will be.
"The problem with such [gun control] laws is that they take away guns from law-abiding citizens, while would-be criminals ignore them." Most can agree that, with gun control laws make it hard to own a gun and with such few people owning guns, criminals can’t steal guns. On the other hand, gun control laws don’t make it impossible to own a gun, therefore guns can still be stolen. “Even if the gun owner had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and would never use it in furtherance of a crime, is it likely that the same can be said for the burglar who steals the gun?” Admittedly, it is true that without people owning guns, criminals can’t obtain a gun by stealing it. However, if you do have a gun you won’t use it for anything wrong, but anyone who steals our gun can.
People who own a weapon without meeting the standards can be extremely harmful for themselves and others. The Second Amendment ensures that having firearms is a right that will not and can not be taken away, but limitations will always be present. “The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states: "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Supreme Court rulings, citing this amendment, have upheld the right of states to regulate firearms” (Masters). The United States will presumably always follow the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, but certain rules must be followed.
I believe that due to recent shootings, we as America should do something to put an end to these shootings. I know that the difference between gun advocates versus gun control activists is that gun advocates have guns and know how to use them properly. Donald Trump has stated that to put an end to the shootings is not only due from obtaining a gun, but mental health. I also believe that it isn’t necessary to own a gun unless you’re using. I am torn between both sides, because half of the people feel more safe when they have a gun on hand, and the others feel more safe knowing that no one is in possession of a weapon.
Keirstyn Liddle Mod 1 Participation in Government Gun Control The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is very often misunderstood. It directly reads “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” This amendment has brought about two theories: the “individual right theory” and the “collective rights theory.” The first says that individuals have a right to own a gun, while the second theory states that only the local, state and federal legislatures have the right. Much controversy has been brought about because of these two theories(Second). It is unclear in the amendment whether individuals have
In the year 2014 much debate began on gun laws and whether they should be authorized. This political fight became a disputable issue among Americans. A source at the Smithsonian said, “More Americans thought it was important to protect the right of Americans to own guns than to control gun ownership.” Most Americans believe that their gun ownership is unrelated to someone else 's gun use in crimes. Many people want strict gun control but that won 't help because mass shooters don 't follow the law; strict gun laws won 't reduce violence and the removal of guns would leave people defenseless, especially in a time where terrorism is rampant. Making gun control more strict won 't really make it harder for mass shooters.
Also they want more laws to be passed to allow concealed carry among civilians. This is my personally view and how the systems are corrupt and why we need people to be armed. “Why I carry because it is my responsibility-not the governments- to protect myself and my family, so I always legally carry a firearm because I refuse to be a victim”-
Im assuming that no one in here will ever go out and commit a violent crime involving a firearm. However i cant guarantee that some people we are around everyday will not be involved in a violent crime. I'd like to tell you today why gun control should not be put into large scale effect . I'd like to bring up the number of violent crimes involving firearms in the united states in the year of 2013 before the bulk of the gun control movement had started (refer to chart). IN the year 2013 there were 16,121 homicides nation wide and out of that number 11,208 of them were caused by a firearm of those deaths approximately 750 of the murders were committed with an illegally owned firearm which shows that you do not have to be a felon that is unable to possess a firearm in order to take someones life with one.
This doesn 't mean that they don 't want change or feel that we need to change, they just believe we shouldn 't get rid of guns completely. They say that guns don 't kill people, people kill people, guns just make it easier for them to do it. According to CNBC and Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee “When somebody has an intent to do incredible damage, they 're going to find a way to do it." This trying to prove the point that guns don 't kill people, people kill people. Many believe it is a violation of their second amendment rights which states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” If gun control was to be put into place by the government then it would make the second amendment useless.
