Description of Problem

According to the News Medical Life Scientists the issue of health complications due to smoking first arose when scientists realized that smoking had a big impact on the human body in the 1950s. Lung cancer was once a very rare disease, so rare that doctors took special notice when confronted with a case. Also The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that today's cigarettes cause about one million deaths from lung cancer per year, a number that will rise to nearly 2 million per year by the 2020s and 2030s. According to Hermann Rottmann a Medical Doctor in 1989 proposed that tobacco dust, not smoke might be causing the elevated incidence of lung tumours among German tobacco workers. As of July 1, 2016, according to the American Nonsmokers Rights Foundation, 82.0% of the U.S. population lives under a ban on smoking in "workplaces, restaurants, bars, by either a state, commonwealth, or local law, and 58.6% live under a ban covering all workplaces, restaurants, and bars.
