In the article, “The State of Poverty in America,” written by a renowned lawyer and author, Peter Edelman, the issue of poverty and the extent of how widespread it has domestically become is redundant throughout. Within his writing, he explains in great detail how poverty is a deeply rooted problem that society faces in two ways, as well as the longtime affects of the troubles and hardships poor people experience every day. One’s living condition is not determined by the amount of wealth acquired by that person. Having a substantial amount of wealth can depict that someone is living a satisfied life. In Charles Murray’s “What’s So Bad About Being Poor,” Murray explains the correlation between being poor and living in poverty.

Numerous global issues are affecting millions of people everyday in various countries and continents. Amongst these problems is child poverty, which currently is on the rise in Brazil. Several organizations have made the endeavor to end poverty for children all around the globe; each trying different tactics. Since I was elected to head a Child Welfare Organization, I intend to direct my exertions toward the resolution of child poverty in Brazil. Most of the organizations of the past tended to focus on the children; however, the approach I plan to make goes right to the source: the adults.
Populations living in poverty are more vulnerable and therefore at greater risk of heath detriments. Poverty and poor heath are linked due to many factors including: money, having to make difficult decisions just to make ends meet i.e.: food over a doctor’s visit, car repair over food, and poor access to healthcare. My experience on Spent, (SPENT, n.d.), served to remind me, how fragile our lives really are. I did this exercise three times, each with a different job, each time making different decisions. I made it fourteen, nineteen and fifteen days before running out of money.
