In the second summer, scholars learn about public service as they spend eight to ten weeks working full-time in hands-on community service projects. In the summer before junior year, students focus on their own project lasting anywhere from five to twelve weeks. Scholars can choose between a substantial research paper or an internship. Finally, in their last summer in the Morehead-Cain program, scholars pursue private enterprise through an internship to prepare them for the world beyond college. Through the academic rigor of UNC and the exciting summer opportunities, the Morehead-Cain scholarship keeps students busy and inspired to lead in the years following high school.
They need someone to show them how to effectively set up goals and plans to execute them. It’s time to get informed on the importance of goal setting and to take your results and life to new heights. Following the dual advice from Gallup-Perdue and Jacotot, students would be encouraged to learn by themselves via a long-term project or extracurricular activities. To further encourage such learning, students would be given credit for their work as “independent research.” Furthermore, UNF must establish a liaison with local employers; students would be required to take a minimum number of hours employed in an internship during their third year. Internships, like projects and extracurricular activities, would allow students to apply what they had learned at college.
Chapter eight talks about the struggles of choosing which major you should take when you are in college. Picking a major in college is the first of many decisions that a student must decide because it can have a big effect on their academic success. It can help the student be more creative and a productive person after college. Once you figure out what major you want to get, you choose what professor you want for your classes. For most people, they choose professors that are easy and teaches well.
I knew I had to go to Wellesley when I first read the mission statement. My father placed it nonchalantly on the edge of my desk. It was fall, and because I believed I already knew where I wanted to attend college, I moved it aside. When I finally read the statement, I cried. Everything I talked about, all summer long, was contained between two brightly blue quotation marks: “To provide an excellent liberal arts education to women who will make a difference in the world.”
As a young student, I would often see many college students deeply focused on their work. Seeing them motivated me to learn more and concentrate on the two most important things in life, learning and helping others. I was always interested in learning about Cyber Security and protecting personal data against hackers trying to attack the network. I want to continue my studies through graduate level education in computers. I strongly feel like the Early College Program will help me achieve my goals.

According to Forouk Dey's article, "10 Future Trends in College Career Services" (2014), there has been an evolution at universities and the career-oriented services they provide. Originally, there was a vocational guidance centered approach, mainly targeting graduating teachers in the 1920's. From there, services started to evolve in the 1940s with veterans needing help finding relevant jobs, resulting in direct placement. It wasn't until the 1970s and 80s when the career counseling and planning model started to take effect. Today, most universities, including UW Bothell, use a networking, customized connections, and community approach to career counseling.
If I am not accepted to medical school during this cycle, I will reapply as this is my first application to medical school. If I am ultimately not accepted in either cycle, I will probably go into a career in medical research and obtain my Ph.D. in an area of medical research. Through research, I have the opportunity to impact more people than I would have in clinical practice alone. Thus far, I only have experience in bench research, and while I enjoy bench research , I may ultimately try to become more involved in clinical or translation medical research if this is the career path I pursue.
Pursuing college after high school is something that I want to do. Going to college is a different experience for everyone and I want mine to be special. An HBCU will make my college experience something I will never forget. College tour will expose me to a few of the HBCU that interest me. I am a strong-minded, hardworking student.
As a future educator, I indubitably believe Honors College will provide a vast variation of opportunities when it comes to achieving my career goals. I will be able to ameliorate educationally, culturally, and also on a personal level. My career goals involve teaching students in a college setting. Growing up, I was convinced that I would have my own classroom one day and I am currently on my way of making my dreams come true. My ultimate goal is to empower students to learn and to embrace the power of knowledge.
When I decided to come back to school after being in the military for the number of years I spent in the service it was very profound. After researching schools online, I found that American Public University System was one of the best choices I made in my educational career goal. I can honestly say that this experience has been great and I will not want to change anything about it. At first it was kind of difficult of me trying to get things together when it came to wanting to make sure I stay on top of things. One thing I learn that time management has been the successful key for me as a student here APU.
Growing up children have think they know what they want to be when they grow up but as they progress and get older they’re ideal career changes for the most part based on the changes they go threw themselves and experiences. The Self-Directed Search (SDS) is a career interest test that asks questions about your aspirations, activities, skills, and interests in different jobs. This test is based on a career theory developed by John L. Holland (1997). Career theories can help individuals to identify the important things to consider in making a career decision. Also, theories about career choice and development try to predict some future events, such as satisfaction/dissatisfaction in a specific kind of work or development and things that one should be thinking about at a later life stage.
