I chose this quote because even though Oskar wanted to be like his father so much, he was still traumatized by the tragedy. Ever since his father died, he has become a more complex thinker.
“There are so many different ways to die, I just need to know which was his.”
Oskar does not accept his father’s death until he has finds a reasonable explanation for how it happened.
“Every time I left the apartment to go searching for the lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to Dad. But I also became a little heavier, because I was getting farther from Mom.” (pg. 52)
Oskar losing his dad at such a young age is tragic. As smart he is, he should try and move on for the sake of his mother, because he still has a mother that cares about him. …show more content…

Depressing, but also very true. I chose this quote because when I was reading this book and came along this sentence it gave me the chills. What he said is true, and the truth can sometimes be frightening.
“Dad?” “Yeah Buddy?” “Nothing.”
(pg. 223) The last conversation of Oksar and his father. You’ll never know when it will be the last time you are talking to somebody. So enjoy the time you have with people. Such a short quote, but so much meaning.
“sometimes I can hear my bones straining under the weight of all of the lives I’m not living.” (pg. 113)
Thomas is depressed. He lost his loved ones in a bombing, and he’s the only one that survived. It causes him a lot of pain and suffering.
“It’s a rule that we never listen to sad music, we made that rule early on, songs are as sad as the listener, we hardly ever listen to music.”
