Personal Reflection On 9/11

Winthrop’s excerpt is an example of a life event that will encourage individuals to come together for centuries. When I think of a more current event, I feel on September 11, 2001, a similar impact on individuals was made when the worst terrorist act in the United States occurred. I think of the 9/11 terrorist act in New York City, Washington, D.C. and the United Airlines Flight 93. This is an example of American history where on that day people were forced to look beyond their differences, arguments and competitions and work together. During this incident, many regular working class people became heroes. Annually, people rally in New York City and throughout America people to work for a common goal to show respect to the lives lost and to end terrorism. On September 11, 2001, I was going to turn 1 year told in 4 days. I was not aware of what was taking place on that date. It would be years later of listening to new stories, reading articles and watching video coverage and remakes of the horrific events that occurred in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Flight 93. My parents recall sitting in their home watching the Today show and seeing the events occur live. and Flight 93 are all three areas that is a reminder of individuals working as a team for the greatest success possible. Not all lives were saved that day, but without the help of so many people the death rate would have been much higher. It is a sad day in history due to the cause, but it is a historical event especially for New Yorkers, Pentagon workers and all the passengers on Flight 93 to show the impact a person can make when working together for a common goal. Many memorials, statues and ceremonies have been created, but it cannot truly recognize the level of selfless, kind, heroic acts performed by so many during this
