The Renaissance was a cultural movement between the 14th – 17th century. The “rebirth” began in Florence and eventually spread all through the European countries. Renaissance means rebirth and people wanted to learn and found passion in art. The term Renaissance implies, as stated in the Instructor’s Highlights, “the development of linear perspective in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform.” The Renaissance is known for the rebirth of artistic developments from Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, and architect who created many great masterpieces. Examples of some of the iconic paintings Leonardo has created include the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and the Vitruvian Man.
