Having a sense of meaning and purpose to life can come from discovering our life purpose and living out our personal mission and vision. When we are living for a purpose, we can develop a greater sense of meaning for what happens in our life, and a positively correlated topic with this is religiosity. Having a spiritual or religious relationship seems to aid in the cultivation of purpose and meaning. Most of these variables are interrelated and build on one another, and they can be learnt and developed if we are willing to put in the time to grow in these areas .

Myers (2009) believes that happiness promotes other virtues such as forgiveness. When you are feeling happy you are more positively disposed to forgiveness. When someone wrongs you, if you are secure within your own happiness, you can release the effect/s the wrong has on you through forgiveness. Forgiveness puts you in control of your emotions and life. Happiness can also promote sharing. For example, because you are happy, positive emotions bubble up and out of you unto other people or animals. In a negative world, you may feel as if everything is conspiring to crush you and this may course one to go into seclusion. However, much happiness may be an involuntary feeling; numerous factors have always hindered the manifestation of 'genuine happiness. First I will address the term happiness.
