‘Social cohesion’ can be defined as the bond that keeps various groups in society working together in spite of their different backgrounds and cultures (Shires, “What Is Social Cohesion?”), in order for the country to stay afloat and prosper (Stanley 5). ‘Communal harmony’ refers to the peaceable relations and acceptance between people of different groups who are part of the same community (“Communal – Meaning, Definition, Usage of Communal.”).

Social cohesion and communal harmony are fundamental to build long-lasting peace and stability in a country.
