Police brutality and racial profiling against has became a huge problem in America. In 2016 more than 250 african americans were killed by police officers. Two thousand and fifteen an estimate of 306 blacks were killed. Mainly our african american men have been killed innocently by an officer because the color of his skin.

For the modern world, the United States’ police have become more frightening than ever, however, both have somewhat different ways of showing it. Police Brutality is shown in both the book, “1984”, with the Thought Police and in the modern world with the United States’ police force. However, the Thought Police have evolved into more of a psychological way of brutality, while the police force in the United States uses physical brutality.
What is Police Brutality? Police Brutality is the use of any force exceeding what is necessary to accomplish a lawful police purpose. I think they target blacks because they still view us as the minority of the country and they overuse their power.
While police are supposed to protect all citizens in our country, in some cases they often abuse their power and force towards black citizens. Lately police brutality has covered media by remaining one of the most serious and divisive human rights violation. Sandra Bland, a twenty eight year old, African American woman who died in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas while in police custody. On July 10, she was excited to travel to Waller County to seek a job at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M, where she graduated. To have that feeling suddenly disappear when stopped by a sheriff, Ben Encinia, for a minor traffic ticket.
One of the more charged debates at this time in Minnesota is the actions of Police officers. In the past couple of years, Minnesota police have made headlines in incidents such as the deaths of Jamar Clark, Philando Castile, and most recently, Justine Damond. This has created a distrust of the police force that shouldn’t be there and can be fixed. This past summer, I went on a mission trip to Detroit, where I was blown away by what I saw and heard. I learned about the past in Detroit, which is plagued by racism and police brutality, most notably in the riots of 1967.

Police officers are entitled to care and protect the citizens of the country? In recent news, white male police officers have corrupted their use of power and used unnecessary, excessive force against African American males. Police brutality with African Americans resulted in the Walter Scott case, Michael Brown case, Trayvon Martin Case, and Eric Garner case. The following cases are referred to as racist to the public because of white male police officers are doing avoidable acts to African American males. The justifications induced rioting and protesting in the community of the African American males.
The treatment many police officers have towards African Americans is unjustified. Police officers have certain protocols and rules to follow certain scenarios. This is to prevent casualties as much as possible and to protect bystanders. However, when do some of these actions go overboard? Recently, there have been many cases involving police brutality against African Americans in which some had costed their lives.
How would you think someone felt if they were stopped by officers based on their looks? Racial profiling has been a problem for a long time. Racial profiling is when a law enforcement official believes someone committed an offense based on that person 's ethnicity, race, religion and national origin. A form of policing that is usually used in law enforcement is the Terry Stop or the Stop-question and frisk method. This is a method where people are stopped and suspected of doing a crime.
In class we was given the task to write a paper about problems we noticed about the world, and we had then had to take a position on if we agree or not. The problem I chose to write about Police brutality mainly with african american people. I strongly disagree with all of the incidents that have been going on, and how they tend to get pushed under the table as if it 's the norm. Which is A huge problem many communities have dealt with, and have put fear in multiple people around the world. Surprisingly nothing have been done to prevent, or decrease the amount of incidents involving police and people who was weapon free, and clearly not a threat to others.
Police brutality is an issue that’s very important in America and it’s happening in many different states all over the country. It shouldn’t be happening at all, and in order to fix this, we have to start somewhere. The American system of government can solve these type of problems with requiring more training hours inside of every police station, and they should be interested in it because this is causing many different conversations throughout the country. This is a very good topic to study and research because it’s interesting to learn about. However, it is interesting in a sort of way that doesn’t make you feel good or entertained but instead makes you ready to step in and make a change for the better.
Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. The problem posed by the illegal exercise of police power is an ongoing reality for individuals of a disfavored race, class, or sexual orientation. Police brutality must be stopped so that police do not forget who they are serving – not themselves, but the public.
