According to Wilson’s war message to Congress, the imperial government of Germany posed a threat for world peace and democracy because they infiltrated nations - something a self-governed state would not do - threatened merchants with submarine warfare, and maintained an autocracy by keeping much of the German citizens ignorant of the government’s actions. Wilson confirmed that Germany had infiltrated many surrounding territories and US offices by sending spies into the area, disregarding the neutral status of said territories. Many spies were sent with the goal of -- which would lead to inner turmoil in the invaded countries. By expanding their forces with orders to disrupt - a prime example: the Zimmerman telegram to Mexico intercepted by the US - Germany would endanger the peace of countries and possibly be the cause of wars amongst them.
The man in the picture above is Woodrow Wilson. He is creator of the fourteen points, which is the topic for my assignment. The fourteen points were created during the first world war. They called for a peaceful end to world war 1. Woodrow Wilson received the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize, as the fourteen points were successful in peacefully ending the war.
After reading “President Woodrow Wilson Asks Congress to Declare War, 1917” and “W.E.B Du Bois, Returning Soldiers, 1919” I was able how different they viewed the war and the people involved. When it came to President Woodrow he tried to show Congress how going to war would be a good choice. One the other hand Du Bois showed the public how we may be fighting this war to help other countries but when it comes to our own nations and soldiers were not doing anything to help them. When it came to both documents I believe that they have different views and feelings about war.
Language served a large role in America’s rise to power. He would, he repeatedly said, do his utmost to move international relations away from the sort of secret diplomacy and deals that the European powers had engaged in for centuries and that, in his opinion and that of many Americans, had led to the

As an alternative, he considered methods of protecting American freight without actually arriving at the conclusion of a war. He addressed the situation with a positive attitude and was hopeful that the Germans would reassess the submarine campaign. Ships asked for the naval guard or at least protective weapons for firing at submarines on the surface. The senate never ended up acting on the issue and President Wilson armed the vessels without congressional authorization (Fordham, 301-302). These statements given to the American people add to the credibility of Wilson as a president considering he is still trying to stay neutral in World War I.

The first world war was a resulted of imperial rivalries and ethnic conflicts in central Europe. The two group amid the war were the Triple Alliance or the Central Power which comprised of (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy) the second group was the Triple Entente or the Allied Powers (France, Great Britain and Russia)
The Great War was not so great of a war even though it was given this ironic name. This war is better known as, World War I. Two main points that encouraged the United States to join the Great War was the sinking of the Lusitania and the exposing of the Zimmermann Telegram.
