“The American Dream” was the lifestyle that everyone wanted to have. Starting in the 1920s’ “The American Dream” changed the way most Americans lived their lives. America went from being all about having fun and being free to all about how rich you are and how much money you have. The things people cared about was who could through the bigger better party, who had the nicest house and car, and who had the richest most beautiful women not about loyalty, hope, peace, and happiness.
What is the American Dream? The American Dream is defined by the ideal that life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement regardless of social class or circumstances of birth. In the article “ American Dream? Or Mirage?” by Michael W. Kraus, Shai Davidai, and A. David Nussbaum, the idea that the lower you are on the wealth/class scale the more you believe in the american dream, whilst on the other hand the higher you are, the more you think it is just luck rather than merit. Professor Kraus et al were wrong in saying that the American Dream is still alive when in truth the American Dream is dying if it is not already dead not only in the upper class but also in the lower class.
The American dream is a dream of land in which life should be better and richer for everyone. It’s a land where people succeed to accomplish their ambition of a better life. Most of the people have a different way of defining this American Dream. Unfortunately, for some, it could mean wealth,status,or power whereas for others it could mean companionship, good morals,love,and amity. According to our Declaration of Independence, it entitles every man and woman the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The American dream is the belief that individuals who work hard will be successful. However not all wealthy individuals worked hard for their money such as inheritance, luck, and illegal means. In contrast there are many hard working americans that are just barely getting by and hardly able to support themselves. Whereas a person doesn't have to have all the wealth or materialistic items to keep themselves happy. The American dream is a false concept and should not be pursued because the pursuit of materialistic things can be consequential.
James Truslow Adams invented the “American Dream” in 1931. He was referring to “That dream of a land in when life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to his ability or achievement.” James Adams is right, but my definition is a little different. The American Dream to me is accomplishing your goal in life and getting a great education. People tend to think that if their education isn’t great, or that they don’t have a goal set, then they won’t go anywhere in life.

The American dream is a term used in a lot of ways. Although research has shown that American dream can’t be attainable by most people, closer examination shows that it can be attainable by the following reasons. As Daniel J. Mitchell stated in New York Times im January 1st, 2015 “The United States is not a perfect country, but the American Dream is still a reality.” By that he meant that even with America’s Grow rate, poverty, unemployment rate in the past years and still going Americans can still chase their American dreams If we look at the history and the definition it shows that infact it is possible to attain it.
The American Dream is a dream of land and life that is far better and richer for all people based on challenges they face and duties they accomplish. Mainly people thought that the dream was of motor cars and high wages, but clearly its a dream where both men and women can attain to their fullest potential of which they are innately capable of. It 's possible that families who are struggling can change for the better or for the worse to neither or encourage or discourage a better life for their children. If finance is a hefty issue, it 's still never too late to adjust your living where your family can be wealthy in health and living instead of money itsself.
American Dream James Truslow Adams, in his book which was written in 1931 and called “ The Epic of America” wrote about American dream, that American dream is about being richer and living in better life. Also that American dream is more materialistic, that people work a lot of hours to gain things which they want to have. Such as luxury cars, big houses. They want to be wealthy, rich and have all expensive things and live in a world of money and wealth.
The American dream is an illusion that is deeply implanted in the minds of the people, it sets a bar for life achievement and offers hope to work hard to achieve their dreams. As for Americans, they are raised in a society to where they are expected to make lots money and to have a healthy family. After all in our society success is largely based off positions of power and financial stability. For example, in The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there were multiple interpretations of the ideal American dream in the 1920s. In the 1920s, due to the growth of materialism, people advertised and fancied the power of money to fulfilling their dreams.
Not everyone who believes in the American Dream are able to achieve it. There are even people that come to America from other places in the world to try and achieve the American Dream. It is never granted to someone that they are going to be able to achieve the American Dream. America has given other countries the perspective that America is the land of opportunities and liberty for all. Yet this is not true for everyone; not even some Americans.
Over the years, a dream that changed the way the world saw the U.S. was created and it is the American Dream. As the years passed and the U.S. was developing the American Dream as well developed or as many say changed. The American Dream is a term that was introduced in 1931 by James Truslow Adams in his book The Epic of America (Kamp 2). The term “American Dream” started with a meaning that was reachable: “a better, richer and happier life for all citizens of every rank”(3). Throughout the years the term`s meaning changed dramatically.
The American Dream, Possible but Not Easy America, the land of the free, where there is equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative, but it’s not as easy as it seems. The American dream is whatever you want it to be, and is indeed accessible to everyone and anyone, although it may be harder for some more than others because life is just full of complications such as what the country is going through like economic crisis and war. Life 's complications, as well as its dreams, have no limit. There are problems such as where you live, the economy, and other things like lack of jobs for unskilled laborers. These problems all factor into the difficulty of achieving the American Dream.
The idea of The American Dream has been in existence since the time of Ellis Island where people from all across the world, mainly Europe, came to America in search of better lives for themselves and their families. The classic definition of The American Dream is a set of ideals that include liberty, democracy, opportunity, democracy, and equality. Many people were drawn to america by these ideas. My modern definition of The American Dream is: Do what makes you happy, don't stop doing what you love because someone tells you it is wrong, live your life how you want too, and don't try to fit in a box that you don't belong in.
