In the Bedroom could most defiantly be considered a love story. The movie is not your traditional guy and girl living happily ever after but, there’s multiple love connections that need to be examined. There’s father and children connections, husband and wife, mother and children, and settle friendships all throughout the movie.
Matt Fowler is a well-known man in the small-town community. He was the towns doctor, who in the right state of mind wants best for everyone. He was a supportive father all of Franks life. The movie begins with Frank and his father out on the boat with Natalie’s son. Frank cares for her children and wants to be there for her. Frank wants to also give up his college career for the sake of a relationship with Natalie. Frank is willing to support her and the children the rest of their lives. I think the reason that frank is so in love with this older Lady is because his mother was so controlling his whole childhood. When he’s with Natalie, he sees another side of a women he’s never known. She’s a laid back, single mother who he wants to be his future. Frank sees Natalie as a way to help him grow up and feel needed. He’s spending countless hours out on the lobster boat, trying to prove that he’s capable of that lifestyle. When Frank wasn’t on the boat, most times he was with Natalie. Frank was always overly protective of Natalie when Richard would come around. When Richard brings the children back to Natalie’s house, Frank makes sure she is upstairs and safe before he goes to greet him. Frank also made sure that the children were with their mother before he faced Richard. I think this says a lot about Frank as a person. Frank wanted the women and kids to be somewhere safe and not to see a dispute between two men. Little did he know at the time, this would be the end of him. I think that it was very important that the mother was upstairs and safe with her children even if this affect the outcome of the court
A couple years later, Natalie and Burrough decide to get an apartment together and to attend community college. While Natalie excels in her classes Burrough ultimately drops out. As a week passes since he dropped out his mother reaches out to him and confesses that she was raped by Dr.Finch. With this being told, Natalie believes that his mother is just having another breakdown.
Frank committed a large scale crime, and was sent to a higher security prison. When Frank arrived, he learned the Penitentiary was unforgiving and broke spirits. “His lips were colorless, his fine teeth looked yellowish. He glanced at Alexandra sullenly, blinked as if he had come from a dark place, and one eyebrow twitched continuously” (Cather 103) Frank was portrayed as the antagonist in the entire book, except readers will sympathize for Frank
Soon Gloria realized the need for a better family for her son’s future and decided to let him move in with someone who could provide him a better environment and resources. That someone was none other than Frankie
The townspeople believe it’s not his problem anymore and wanted to defend against Frank alone. This notion does input the ideas on what people morality and control of the hold of belief in the first place. His new wife Amy, is a Quaker, who does not believe in violence to solve problems. The reason she became a Quaker, her father and brother were killed by guns with violence.
Frank and Leon lead very different lives from the very start. Frank, was given a better opportunity from infancy to thrive into adulthood where he was able to become productive member of society. At the infancy stage Frank, was able to develop an emotional bond with his mother and father. His parents had family support to help support them challenging times and he was able to develop trusting relationships through his stages of development. Whereas Leon, was neglected by his mother and was not able to establish an emotional bond with her at the infancy stage.
Once the sheet, is washed, all that is left is “A FRANK”, which foreshadows how his nickname will be too washed away and with it a new and improved personality will form, as Frank becomes his own person not defined
Through lack of motivation in caring for his life, Frank Gallagher is the epitome of a Phlegm character. As an alcoholic, Frank is extremely careless about his life and his families lives. Throughout his entire life he has never been employed and has sat around and collected disability checks. With the little money that the Gallaghers have, Frank's eldest daughter Fiona tries to financially make ends meet in order to compensate for Frank’s unemployment. Fiona takes on two jobs and even asks the younger kids for money to pay bills, while Frank selfishly steals their money to spend it on his alcoholic lifestyle.
“But underneath Matt felt a hollowness” (Farmer 84). Throughout the book, The House of the Scorpion, by Nancy Farmer, the main character, Matt, longs for acceptance and craves something that is not there. Matt does not feel accepted at the Alacrán estate because of his identity, but later accepts who is as a individual. Matt later escapes the Alacrán estate due to dangerous conditions, and later on, the Plankton Factory/Boneyard as well. Matt is insecure, therefore, creating many conflicts within himself and others as well.
It was very uncalled for and they shouldn’t have done it. I’m going to tell you some things about the murder. Anne had thoroughly expressed despite everything her father is going through right now, he will still give her affection. Surely their predicament is dreadful at times, given their situation. One of the places that Frank would take Eveline, when they gate a chance is the theaters to watch the latest movies. In his book, Frank states, “I know when Dad does the bad thing. I know when he drinks the dole money and Mam is desperate and has to beg at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and ask for credit at Kathleen O'Connell's shop but I don't want to back away from him and run to Mam. How can I do that when I'm up with him early every morning with the whole world asleep? He lights the fire and makes the tea and sings to himself or reads the paper to me in a whisper that won't wake up the rest of the family.” (Angela’s Ashes, Chapter 8).
Frank was a normal person looking for love and affection as done anyone else. He found the wrong girl who was with the wrong guy. Frank was innocent in the situation but the jealousy of Richard Strout was to much for him to bare so he murdered Frank. The audience sees the reason behind Mr.Strouts murder and the reason behind Mr.Fowlers murder and deems one reason better than the other therefore one murder is okay and
