“History is, after all, something that happened to people. No 'force ' whether economic or political can act except as it acts through the minds and bodies of human beings” (Priscilla Smith Robertson, Revolutions of 1848: A Social History). The Revolution of 1848 was a series of revolts against European monarchs causing a ripple effect throughout Europe. The ripples affected France, Italy, and Germany. One of the main decline in France was the terrible government ( pg. 220). In Italy, Nationalists were a main part of the revolution. Lastly, in Germany, the great potato famine caused a major economic decline ( pg. 223). Political and economical disputes where one of the main causes of the revolt creating the vast Revolutions of 1848. One of the countries in Europe caused many downfalls and that country is France. France had many political and economical declines during the time of 1830-1848. Louis Philippe was in reign when many liberals saw his government as a soon to be a corrupt government. In February of 1848, revolts started to take place. There were many overturned carts and many royal troops were killed in a massacre of angry crowds ( pg. 220). The mobs attacked the Tuileries ( doc 1). He decided to create the Second Republic. Socialists decided to take control of the government and set up workshops for the unemployed.
