The Man in the Principal’s Office, by Wolcott, Harry (2003), is an ethnography representation of social science. In clarification of the research given in the book study the author formally designated the principal investigation. The Man in the Principal’s office started off as an initial research proposal describing the ethnographic approach. The author wanted the book to be a study in the social behavior of one elementary school principal. The first chapter introduces and describes how the writer proceeded as a principal investigator and what fieldwork was initiated along with an ethnographic account provided in the chapter of the book. In review of the methodology of the research it begins with a discussion of the problems of locating a principal who would be the primary subject of the research. The skill coding help with future research by organizing data for future coding by general data. The general steps include organizing and preparing the data: an initial reading through the information; coding the data developing from the codes a description and thematic analysis. Young college students are taking longer to finish school while choosing to wait longer to start a family. Nathan Harden article Peter Goes to College states “Today’s college students are a lot like Peter Pan—they are in no hurry to grow up”( Harden, 257) He argues that many college students are affected by “hook up culture ” struggling to commit to relationships and career choices. Like Peter Pan, many college students are taking longer to “grow up ” and are no longer considering marriage as an option. Many college students face social pressure to prioritize career development over relationships.
Discuss the standards used in critiquing qualitative studies: descriptive vividness, methodological congruence, analytical and interpretative preciseness, philosophical or theoretical connectedness, and heuristic relevance. Qualitative studies are critiqued using five general standards (“Critiquing qualitative research,” 2018). Descriptive vividness examines the inclusion of all the necessary descriptive data, such as the experience of collecting it, the thoughts of the research team as they did so, the site of the collections, and the participants. It should allow the reader to feel personally involved in the event. Methodological congruence ensures that the researcher took the appropriate measures to accurately record and represent the data, both procedurally and ethically.

Nobody in Wolff’s memoir is honest – they all use deception (dishonest) to get what they want. Discuss. In this memoir “This Boy’s life” by Tobias Wolff, shows the dishonesty that’s played between every character however jacks seems to be the most. Jack is shown to change his identity so much that he starts believing them but rather his complete opposite to who he shows himself to everyone.
It describes the issue of teachers not understanding their students and labeling them as a result of cultural mismatching. The article visits the idea of the unfamiliarity of white teachers and how this impacts their assessment of their students stating, “There is some indication that teachers do make differential judgments about achievement and behavior based on racially conditioned characteristics (p.87)”. The teachers in Anyon’s study assumed the outcome of these students because of their urban settings, behavioral problems, and lack of resources. The ability to identify with your students, or making the attempt to understand your students assists with knowing how to motivate and teach them.
Many aspects of social life could be viewed as taken for granted by members of a group; only a stranger can see what meanings, rules and understandings are operating in that setting. The role of an ethnographer, who carries out ethnographic fieldwork, is to approach a social setting as “anthropologically strange” and produce a “thick description” (Geertz 1973), i.e. an extremely detailed account of some aspect of social life. In today’s education world, children are coming to our schools with different family, racial, ethnic, and religious upbringings; therefore, as an educational leader I will have to demonstrate an appreciation to all the diversity within our school community. I will have to plan and develop policies and procedures that support our diverse family. As a leader, I will have to research the different cultures that will exist within my school in order to treat everyone fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect. According to ISLCC standard 6 the administrator should ensure the environment in which schools operate is influenced on behalf of students and their families.

Research Implications As previously disclosed, this project's implications not only addresses the didactics of teaching and learning during the early years; they also evidence the implications of conducting research and their role. Firstly, for further studies it is recommended that the research group gets established from the beginning and with enough time so that their profiles could be scanned to ensure their commitment towards the research journey.
