In 1986 Ronald Reagan explained that while guns exist criminals will use them for their own gains but, in the same interview he also said that the only people who will be penalized will with heavy gun control are law abiding citizens. I believe gun control will solve some of America’s problems but an outright ban on assault weapons or firearms, in general, will make a bigger problem than it solved. Our forefathers believed that law-abiding citizens should have the right to bear arms to defend themselves against criminals and a tyrannical government. Mass shootings have killed hundreds in this country but a national prohibition on firearms won’t decrease murders in America. No one can deny that firearms are used to hurt or kill innocent people.
Guns are rarely used and bought for self defense. “Hatred will always exist,There will always be someone that takes offense to something said. Through a mix of fear and misunderstanding That is America’s shame. Not that we have people who hate, but that we make it so easy for people to obtain the means to turn that hatred dealy” (Mcdonald,2016). We as a country should not be making it easy for just anyone to get a gun.
