I feel that the commentary in my argumentative essay was not very strong. I am able to use discussion and debate in the future to explore/research a topic by choosing a topic and then doing research on both sides so that I can could a side to align with. Some important factors to consider while researchin are: website credibility,

Writing in My Own Perspective My experience with writing is not that great. When I was a child in elementary school, my teacher asked us to write many essays in Arabic. I remember that when I went back home, I started to tell my mother about the assignment and that I did not want to write it. My mother began to search for information related to the topic. She always loved to help me with my essays.
When the film The Sixth Sense, directed by Night Shyamalan debuted in 1999, it mesmerized audiences near and far with its appealing paranormal plot, its deceptive nature and its top-shelf talent from its actors. The film was immensely prosperous and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. However, most casual moviegoers overlooked its underlying philosophical significance. The Sixth Sense is driven by the big questions of life from almost every aspect of philosophy specifically metaphysics and epistemology. In this specific scene Shyamalan relies on subtlety to create a creepy atmosphere of something beyond our ordinary beliefs and understanding. He builds up the story very slowly, gradually unrevealing the mysteries in the lives of the main
The reason why this is a strength it shows the author has a general understanding of the topic as well as debunking critics who may assume that she has no experience in the matter. According to The Longman Reader Ethos “Refers to a writer’s reliability or credibility” (683). This is needed when trying to persuade your audience, because readers will agree with your point of view if they think that you have some sort of credentials on the matter or
While reading Deaf Again, I couldn’t help from thinking, how I would have treated Mark through elementary school and high school. I was amazed when he said that he was so used to reading people’s lips and didn’t even notice he was deaf. I know that when I try to read people’s lips without hearing their voice it is very hard. It’s crazy how we take advantage of sound in our everyday lives as human beings. I know that I could not imagine not having the ability to hear sounds of the world. Anywhere from the birds in the morning to the leaves rustling and music all day long. In the book, it said that they don’t really care, because they have never known any different. There are times when the world is so much different through the eyes of others, then you thought. This can change your view of the world,
When I joined AVID in seventh grade I was amazed how AVID works and how it can be used every day. Not only AVID helps you with your grades, but it also helps you to be more organized and a hard-working student. AVID helped me discover my full potential by showing me that I can always do better. What I mean by this is that in sixth grade I was not in AVID, I made all A’s and B’s. In seventh grade when I was in AVID, I made all A’s. Not only AVID helped my grades it also helped me be more organized, confident and a hard-working student.Being in AVID can also help me succeed my goals for the future. My goals for the future is to get into Lee Early College, later transferred into UNC at Chapel Hill to become a teacher and with AVID it would make it easier financially.
The Hate You Give written by Angie Thomas was inspired by a lifetime of events, but the death of Oscar Grant was what prompted Thomas to write her novel. Thomas lived in a poor, black community in Jackson, Mississippi, and was exposed to and witnessed violence on several occasions throughout her young life. She first heard the news of the death of Grant while she was attending a predominantly white university in Jackson where many students made assumptions that Grant was automatically at fault or involved with gangs or drugs. From this event, Thomas realized that the world needed to hear what she had to say in The Hate You Give. Grant 's death by police wasn 't the first nor the last that lead to a community uprising. Since then numerous other
Chapter four of They Say I Say, written by Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, explain ways to offer your view in a conversation or in your academic writing. Chapter four provide details about the three basic ways to response to other people ideas, such as, agreeing, disagreeing or both. These techniques show his/her stand relative to other’s ideas. Mastering these basic ways can helps readers/writers understand more of where the author or their view stand. However, to move the conversation further, they must provide details to demonstrate their view is relevant to other’s ideas.
Have you ever noticed that the voices of others build up your own response? Gaining a perspective on this question is not an easy task to reflect on especially when people’s arguments determines your own. Gerald Graff’s and Cathy Birkenstein’s book, “THEY SAY, I SAY”, abridges their perspective on difficulties students face with persuasive writing. By deliberately including academic templates, the book assists students to overcome their inability of constructing their own arguments, based on what others have said. Covering the first four chapters; “they say”, “I say”, “trying is all together”, and “In specific academic context” I will showcase how Graff and Birkenstein’s book aid students to better express their personal thoughts.
This paper was probably one of the hardest paper I had to write just because I felt like I was on my own. I was scared at first but i felt like this helped me learn how to properly look and analyze a speech or a writing in general. One way this helped was I highlighted what I thought was a rhetorical device and I had to properly analyze it and see what he/ she is trying to accomplish through his or her writing.

“They say I say” Chapter 1 summary Chapter one of “They say I say” is all about introducing a topic, with a counter point of view. It informs us that you are entering a conversation and need to start with “What others are saying” and then introduce your own ideas as a response. The sooner you summarize what “They say” the more likely the reader is to understand the topic. Graff and Birkenstein say, “The point is to give your readers a quick preview of what is motivating your argument, not to drown them in details right way.” You could also start your topic with an illustrative quotation, a revealing statistic or fact, or a relevant anecdote.(Nehring)
The Process of Reflection The process of reflection is central to clinical supervision. Launer (2003) describes external and internal factors in supervision whereby clinical practice and sharing skills are external and reflection is an ‘internal conversation.’ Brunero & Stein-Parbury (2008) discussed the effects of clinical supervision in nursing staff and argued that self-reflection generates a sense of self-awareness and knowledge to the individual. Supervisees or students may be asked what happened during a clinical event, how they felt, the implications of their actions and what they would do differently if faced with the same situation.
