Socs or greasers, everyone can relate to different themes through personal experiences. In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, Hinton mentions different universal themes such as family, change, and loss. The Outsiders tells a story about a teenage boy who grew up as a greaser and in a neighborhood filled with trouble.
