Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.
Introduction Vaccines are known to be a crucial means of maintaining population health, although many people are against being and/or getting their children vaccinated. A vaccination typically consists of a low-dose or synthetic virus strains injected into the body such that one will develop an immune response to that specific pathogen. In the case that a person contracts the virus in the future, their immune system will be able to recognize it and act faster, thus killing the invader. The war on vaccines escalated in 1998 when a false claim was made that the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine was linked to colitis (inflammation of the colon) and autism spectrum disorders. The untrue claim was subsequently published in The Lancet and the news became public.
The Vaccine Controversy Vaccines have been around for years and still there is much controversy over the safety of them and if parents should have the right to choose if they have their child vaccinated. Parents and even some professionals say that the vaccines are not worth the risk. On the other hand, there is plenty of doctors and other professionals who say vaccines are very necessary and safe. Still with all the controversy over the safety of vaccines, the number of children protected from diseases and death outweigh the risk of the vaccine. Professionals, as parents of children, against the HPV vaccine believe that the vaccine is more risky and dangerous for children than the actual disease.
He states that this may be true, but it could happen with any disciplinary action saying “people who received radiation treatment last year are more likely to have cancer-related problems this year than all of us who did not need radiation treatments last year”. (Larzelere). Larzelere is saying cancer patients that need radiation treatments may still have cancer the next year just as kids who need discipline may still need it for a while whether the parents spank their child or use another kind of
Mercury in high amounts is known to have negative neurological effects. The amount of mercury found in thimerosal was more than the amount approved by the FDA. Upon this discovery, the FDA made it mandatory for vaccine companies to either get rid of thimerosal or reduce the amount of it from the vaccines. In 2001 a comprehensive study by The Institute of Medicine concluded that there was not sufficient evidence linking mercury in vaccines and neurodevelopmental disorders. Thimerosal is not used in most vaccines today except for a few influenza vaccines.
1. With the virus that doesn’t match, a person is still more protected than a person without the vaccine, as stated in a CNN report in December of 2014 on the effectiveness of mutated viruses. 2. Secondly, a yearly vaccine is important because our immune response to the virus weakens over time [Transition: Everyone is at risk for the flu, especially children] II. How the flu affects children A.
For one reason is that they are not healthy. According to The American Academy of Environmental Medicine it encourages doctors to have their patients to have a non GMO diet. The reason is that a study shows that it may lead to organ damage. Also it leaves material inside of us. The health rate of people with an illness jumped 9% in 1996 to 13% in 9 years.
Though many vaccines have triggered skepticism and even complete avoidance, most notably the Vaccine-Autism debate, the resistance to the HPV vaccine goes beyond that of other vaccines**. When questioned about their mistrust, parents have cited the young age at which children are vaccinated and moral concerns***. However, it is very important that the vaccine is administered to children who have not be exposed to the virus for it to be most effective and provide the greatest protection against HPV**. The moral concerns of getting the vaccine is stems from the thought pre-marital sex is immoral and parents would like for their children to wait for marriage*. Even so, some 46.8% of American high schoolers have reported having sex, with 5.6% reportedly having intercourse before the age of 13**.
While Medical Daily has proven that 15% of people say that abortion is morally acceptable, 49% of people believed that it is morally unacceptable and wrong. Also, there are doctors that won’t perform abortions based off of what they think is acceptable and what isn’t. Debra Stulberg stated, “While ob-gyns reported having encountered women seeking an abortion, only 14% said they were willing to perform the service.” To continue, people who can’t afford an abortion have the opportunity to use taxpayers money. People don’t think that it is moral for their money to be spent on abortions rather that it being used somewhere else for things throughout their community. Just think that is taxpayers are paying for 250,000 abortions a year (Conover), people are paying taxes to go towards something that isn’t beneficial to their community, and they aren’t benefiting off of it.
The US National Library of Medicine reported back in 2006 that 2 out of 5 pregnancies were unwanted (Finer). 29% of these pregnancies where unwanted at the time and 19% where unwanted period, the lack of access to contraceptives around the globe is a big issue because if they were provided to everyone not wanting a pregnancy. We as a human species, could reduce the world's population size enormously. Limiting family sizes to a max of two children per family will also decrease our overpopulation problem over time. As Americans we want to have our own children, having at least two of them is enough.
