This quote directly represents how I feel educating is important to one's self-improvement and the improvement of the work around them. It is crucial for a person to always keep learning, its what develops the brain, helps to form our character and it is a privilege that not all people are able to get. it is when we stop learning and educating ourselves out body becomes a useless vessel. But education can't help build a better future without action, one of my personal goals is to help people, inspire them and make their lives better. I was lucky enough to have a chance of getting an education, having food on my plate and a roof over my head in order for me to become who I am today.
Many programs were created to help people living in poverty acquire jobs. The Job Corps helped the disadvantaged youth develop skills for labor. Though President Johnson did want to help the youth to attain skills for jobs, he also wanted the youth to stay in school to makea better future for themselves. One of the most significant and effective programs that Johnson had put into place was the Volunteers in Service to America. This program was made up of volunteer individuals who with community-based agencies would help work out long-term solutions to the problems caused by poverty.
Community Service is the one activity I would continue to pursue, irrespective of age, life challenges and or economics. Pay-it-forward became my motto, when I conceived of what now is a running NGO, Karuna Charitable Trust (Karuna). To Karuna’s original mission, that of providing monetary help and professional training to uneducated widows from the underserved sections of society; make them self-reliant, today, I have added educating their children to its agenda. Having seen the power of true philanthropy, first-hand, I will continue to help, be it with service, guidance or money, the less advantaged, irrespective of geographical boundaries. (98 words) Every Friday, after classes, my school’s Music Room and my garage on Sunday afternoons, become platforms on which we, the Soaring Eagles, lose ourselves to the heart pumping sounds of percussion music, the sweet yet heavy sounds of the electric guitar, the reverberation of the mellow notes that flow from the piano; the mellifluous and catchy sounds of the songs that I sing.
With this in mind, community service not only helps your community but it helps get students out of their houses. Take, for instance,Habitat for humanity a nonprofit agency that builds home for people in poverty. THis agency is mostly run by volunteers and recently added a youthbuild to get children involved and volunteering. For example,in an article by
1.0 WHAT IS COMMUNITY SERVICE Through community service, the community benefits, people are able to volunteer and give back to the community and make it a better place for everyone to be a part of. Services are offered and with the services a certain cause is worked upon. For example: • Planting trees in an area where may have been cut down, this is helping improve the environment but also helping the community at large. • Another example is volunteering at a local hospital where there aren’t many staff to run the hospital. • Providing education services like volunteering to teach English at a local school.
For my project I am hoping to give a change to the daycare community is to work with the Preschool teachers of to correct the little Preschoolers misbehavior. I had quite some excitement that I was still going to work with children even though I had to change the topic because there is a bit of difficulties volunteering. When I was volunteering the people in charge of the daycare had me involved with was working with the little preschoolers
This person primary responsibility is to oversee the progress of the village by empowering the parent/guardian with resources and strategies to assist the student. This role addresses the problem of the Achievement Gap by equipping the parent with non-traditional methods in providing an intentional educational environment for their child. For instance, setting a power hour for reading on the weekends. As well as being involved in planning classroom events and establishing a relationship with the school. The lack of parental support in various capacities was one of the causes of the Achievement Gap in which the focus groups stressed was a major element.
By pursuing a teacher credential in mild to moderate disabilities I know I can achieve this goal because I carry a great passion for education and like to help students in need. Throughout my life I have made many friendships with individuals who have disabilities and seen the lack of support many receive in schools. Motivating me to support them in any possible way and inspiring me to became a special education teacher because I want to support them and other student’s in their education. Also, currently, being an instructional aide at an elementary school I have learned that becoming a teacher is something I would love to do every day because I get an opportunity to spend time with students, while I am teaching them and supporting them, it truly makes me happy and fulfilled to know I can make a difference in a child’s life. Pursuing my post baccalaureate education at Cal State La and continuing my program will fully prepare me to achieve my goal to become a special education teacher and become the best teacher, mentor, and supporter for my
Oprah Winfrey points out that “Sometimes you find out what you are supposed to be doing by doing the things you are not supposed to do”. Consequently, her words have been my thoughts in the last couple months as I have realized the purpose of my doing in life as a school social worker. At this point of my career, I have realized my doing in life is to give back to those who are vulnerable and are in need of help which is one of the reasons why I have decided to pursue my Master Degree of Social Work. Typically, some characteristics that a social worker should have are empathy, courage, respect for diversity, and being ethical and flexible. These are characteristics that I believe I have and helped me while working with youth at the elementary
The basic social guidelines for respect are taught by our parents and school teachers. The parental directives to be nice, generous, thankful are the cornerstone for respectful interactions within the society. These principles are combined with community consensus about respectful behavior and define standards to maintain our interactions with others (Wilson, 2015). If a person is not respected by his/her parents during his/her childhood and adolescence years, he/she has a higher need to feel respected when he/she becomes adults. Later in life, such people take things personally tending to make a big ‘scene’ over small issues.
ACS-subsidized child care has two purposes. It advances family prosperity by permitting parents to focus more on their employment. In addition it supports child defense, child care and preventive administrations, and serves families that are destitute or need of child watch over restorative or social reasons. In the meantime, it gives the childrens a strong establishment for proper advancement and training. Instructors and assistants work to help kids grow physically, socially, and inwardly, and every system worked by an associated patron has an instructive segment to advance in school.
2. What supports do you need from me to be a more effective educator in your classroom? We need support with regards to the policy and procedures that are implemented at our site with regards to Special Education law, the Child & Welfare Institution Codes, Penal Codes, and Education Code. We need to be sure that other site are accountable to the ethical practices that we are trying to encourage in our student’s. Education is the key pathway for individuals to transcend poverty and for a nation to succeed economically and socially. I truly believe that teachers help deliver children from poverty through education and break the generational cycle of poverty. So, it felt like such a coincidence to play the role of a public school teach in the poverty simulation. At first it was difficult for me to visualize my classmates as people suffering from poverty. Then I saw the nametag my classmates were wearing.
Although the parents use praise when talking to the children, I feel there is a lack of explanation on why they are being praised. Recently I have been giving the family feedback of how the contact sessions went with the ethos of improving the way they interact and support their children. Both Wayne and Kelly have shown their desire to improve the way they look after the children by carrying out given advice. Below, I summarise the observations for the Milligan family. The summary is based on the SHANARRI principles:
Residential services focus on improving the lives of children and families struggling with emotional and developmental challenges in home, school, and community. The goal is to work with the children and their parents so that families can be reunited and the children can live successfully in the community upon discharge from foster care. As with children a regular
