Why the Americans Won the War of 1812 The Americans won the war of 1812 against the British, Canadians and First Nations because they achieved many of their goals, made the British suffer many casualties and won numerous significant battles. One of their goals was to stop the British impressment on the seas. At the end of the war, the small attacks on American land from the First Nations stopped.
