It will allow me to be part of a team, to make a difference in something that is truly important, to give and to be the best that I can be,
I do see myself being a parole officer because I have wanted it for so long and I think that I can be a great asset to my state and agency or my career path are having a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, a clean and clear background check, strong computer skills these are just a few. I'm very excited to be pursuing my degree and I can not wait to achieve my goals and finish college and begin a new career on a different path in criminal justice. When I first started in corrections I never dreamed that I would last as long as I did because I never had a desire to do anything like it but after being in it for a while I fell in love with criminal justice and I have never lost interest in since. I went from being an aerobics instructor for the military and a mother to an officer and I must say that the transition was smooth.
My undergraduate studies, volunteer service, and employment have prepared me for study and future employment in criminal justice policy and administration. While studying criminology and criminal justice (CCJS) at the University of Maryland, College Park, I had the option of completing three additional CCJS courses that were not required for my major. I chose to take classes about drugs, race, and human trafficking because I believed they were critical criminal justice issues.
Policing has been in America since the newly discovered continent was still inhabited by the English. At this time, policing was used as a method of damage control. Colonists would be punished publicly: the ducking stool, stocks, branding iron, and the gallows. Not only did these embarrassing and harsh punishments punish the offenders but also taught the remaining English colonists how to behave properly – if one performs acts similar to the acts of those who are being punished, similar punishments will follow. At this time, policing only worked due to a community census and the willingness of the citizens to help.
Police body cameras Police body cameras are a type of video recording system, which used by law enforcement to record their behavior with the people, and also known to increase both police officers and citizens liability. One of the causes that made body cameras almost mandatory was police brutality against citizens, and especially black people. Additionally, the lack of minorities in law enforcement come from trust issues between police officers and their community. Although, some people may believe that creating a more diverse workforce within the law enforcement world have little effect between police and their community, having a police department reflect the community is a stepping stone in mending tension. All in all, lack of representation has many solutions that police departments can incorporate that can provide the youth of America a role model be inspired
The career I have chosen has to do with criminal justice. Criminal justice is something that 's always seemed to grab my attention. It 's something I feel I was born to be interested in.
