The war of 1812 is one to remember. The war happened between the British and the Americans. This happened because the British stopped trade with the Americans due to a war between the British and the French. Another reason was because of the impressment that the British started against the American sailors. For these reasons, the war of 1812 happened. Document A talks about The impressment of Americans. Also, if this many people died from illnesses than it is likely that I will die from the illness. In Document B it shows George Washington attempting to get us proper food, water, and resources we need to last the winter. This shows that the Congressional Congress will not support us throughout the winter. Even though George Washington stood up for us we still didn’t give us the resources we wanted.
Document B was from a Pennsylvania newspaper, and it called for the Americans to fight harder to expel the British from the Americas. The author wanted to politically separate America from Britain and pleaded for the American people to make this political change. In the next few years many people argued how to fix these issues and how the country should grow. Document G illustrated some of these problems.
1812 marks the year President Madison, member of the Democratic-Republican party, asked Congress to declare war on the greatest naval power in the world; Great Britain. The tensions between these two nations came as a result of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. The factors of Great Britain forcing impressment and infringing maritime rights, appealing to American nationalism, and President Madison’s political motivations all added up to equal the War of 1812. To enforce the Embargo Act, Jefferson sent secret agents aboard ships to prevent any black market trading amongst the people. This undermined the people’s rights and took away the livelihood and freedom of many Americans, which is represented in the image in Document D. In Document B, Jefferson says, “the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression.”, Jefferson contradicts his Inaugural Address in Document B when he created the Embargo Act. The Embargo Act, keeping neutrality, ruined the nation’s economy and affected the majority of the US as a whole. Not only did Jefferson disrupt the minority through the use of secret agents hidden aboard ships for citizen surveillance, but he also caused major trouble for the American Economy. According to Document F, just before the Embargo Act was created, a ship by the name of the U. S. S. Chesapeake was

Over the course of American history, society has dealt with many flaws, and dilemmas. In Source B, it illustrates that Abigail Adams, John’s wife, wanted the Continental Congress to remember the ladies when they write The Declaration of Independence. In Source C, it rationalizes how slaves didn’t have equal rights as white men, and the petition is trying to give their natural rights back. Furthermore, in Source D, a miniseries that depicted John Adams life, given particular the Revolutionary War. Fugitive Slave Act of 1793- it allowed masters or agents to pursue slaves over state lines and take them into legal custody, before a court. However, this did not stop the will of the slaves to escape, but made it a risky choice for them to take. This act allowed many people to be on the watch for slaves. Even those in the North would tell on an escaped slave.
The Virginians took the land by force (Dunmore’s War) because Britain was not going to play apart in negotiating land. The built up anger amongst those land speculators led to them making one of the most important decisions in American history. Because wars generally violate treaties with Britain and the Indians, Virginia needed to declare independence to have the right to do what they pleased. Holton’s opinion opened my eyes.to different views of the American Revolution than was once perceived. I thoroughly enjoy this section and believe it was necessary to include because it showed that the Indians made peace among their nations to try to keep their
In document B it clearly shows George Washington asking the powerful and well dressed men for help, also you know they can help because they are a part of congress. It was kind of pathetic they are grown men and are in tattered clothes with holes and some sick with no shoes or anything but it wasn’t like that for long. Still the Patriots had willingness to fight for their country which held them together. Also it was quoted in the caption in document B that “The committee of five congressmen stayed several weeks and was helpful in getting more food and clothing to the soldiers.
Once the British and Colonist ideals were not the same(Document 2) this gave better reason and a model to not follow when pursuing independence.
