Introducing me to recruiters is a rhetorical situation. The rhetorical situation is different from school, because it needs more professional explanations on why I desire the job and how I can make more contributions to the company. Introducing me to recruiters is more difficult than I deliver a speech at a school, because the audiences have a more strict evaluation standard than teachers’ standard. Audiences need to know my real work competencies, communication skills and what benefits that I can produce, and they are professional and rigid. I want to obtain their attentions, making them know that I am an excellent applicant.

From the listening, the professor explains that emotional appeals are to manipulate or control our emotion. And he also says that advertisers use different techniques to persuade us to buy. In the reading, there are two examples about the emotional appeals. The one is Jacko, who is one of the most famous Australian football players.
In these passages they 're speaking on whether psas ' is a good thing or can it be beneficial. Passage 1 is trying to prove that these commercials are good. Passage 2 is trying to prove that this can be good or bad but basically saying beneficial. Passage 1 is correct if you ask me. If they are trying to put in kids head that drugs and alcohol can hurt you then kids will not use them.
In the article “The welcome German open their homes to refugees” by Naina Bajekal, She uses a lot of pathos as well as ethos and logos to convey the struggles of the refugees. Bajekal uses logos by saying, “Germany-Having recorded 200,000 migrant arrival in all of 2014- opened its door to more than 270,000 asylum seekers in september alone” (Bajekal 87). Bajekal used the logos in this quote to show that the Germans were sympathetic to the immigrants and let them into their country. She also uses ethos in order to refute the argument that the response was not welcoming. She said “Conservative parts of the country have been less welcoming, with protest against migrants.
During the 1980s, space exploration was a popular topic to watch, listen to, and learn about in American life. NASA had already sent a lot of missions to space, all reaching new milestones and increasing interest in space exploration. The Challenger, however, had a different mission than the rest. It was going to carry the first teacher, Christa McAuliffe, into space where she would teach two lessons. There were six other men and women on board the Challenger.
"Common Sense" was one of the most important pieces of literature in early America, because it was extremely influential to many people throughout all of American colonies. The colonist came to America to escape religious boundaries. They wanted to be able to worship God freely. Thomas Paine uses this to his advantage by using scriptural quotes, pathos, to convince his audience that it is common sense for the colonists to break completely with Great Britain. He says that "a monarchy is terrible, and to have a king is not only an unsuccessful way to rule a nation, but it is also a sin."

In the article, “Some Teens Start College Work Early Via Dual Enrollment” written by Joanne Jacobs,from the U.S. News and World Report Education, discussed a current path that most high schoolers are taking that will lead them to college success. Jacobs uses ethos and logos to prove the successfulness of the Dual Enrollment Program. The program offers students the opportunity to experience college life, to gain both high school and college credit, and to gain confidence. In most states, high school students who want to take a college class need to attend the class in a community college with regular undergraduates.
1) Of the three primary units we have completed in this course, the most challenging unit for me was the argument (persuasion) unit. I was surprised at how much I struggled both in the pre-writing process and in the writing process. To begin with, because I love arguments, I had trouble choosing a topic. In the end, I decided to challenge myself with the policy that requires sex offender to be added to a public registry policy. Instead of going with my initial stance (opposition), I decided to flip the scrip and argue the opposite of what I believe (proposition).
Words and their meaning are vital in preaching. “The essence of effective preaching is the ability to simplify without becoming simplistic. It is important to study biblical languages as a student of the bible because biblical language is sacred and being able to understand, discloses the interpretation of a given text and assists in properly making a judgement in reference to the text. Leigh Anne grinned and said, “No, he’s changing mine.” This exchange of words comes from the film trailer of an award-winning film, The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock, released on November 20th, 2009. This film puts emphasis on a homeless, black teen, Michael Oher, who has had no stability or support in his life thus far.
As Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Donovan Livingston, a graduate at Harvard Graduate School of Education, has similar views on education. His passionate and inspiring speech called “Lift Off” was given at HGSE’s Commencement Ceremony on May 25, 2016. The speech discusses the importance of education as well as the obstacles and injustices students, especially those of color, have experienced throughout history in getting an education. Livingston’s graduating classmates who are becoming teachers, as well as teachers and educators in general, are the audience of his speech.
Past leaders such as Andrew Jackson, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Marc Antony are evidence that society does not reward morality and good character in leadership. Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability. In history there have been multiple leaders that have used rhetoric, propaganda and charismatic personalities to gain power, despite their morals.
In her essay, “I Had a Nice Time with you Tonight, on the app,” Jenna Wortham believes that social media apps are a helpful way to connect. Wortham swears by apps and is grateful that she can communicate with her boyfriend who is three thousand miles away. Yet some may challenge the view that Social Media apps are a reliable and effective method of communicating, Sherry Turkle stresses people are substituting online communication for face-to-face interaction. Although Turkle may only seem of concern to only a small group of people, it should in fact concern anyone who cares about the negative effects social media can have on people. In her eyes, nothing can replace person-to-person communication.
Speeches are used to commemorate points of history, and inform the general public of the product of their history but what makes a speech so impacting on it’s audience? Rhetorical devices give speeches and works of literature a way that can convey feelings or ideas to a viewer. When addressing during times of war or chaos, people such as Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln, and Winston Churchill used these terms to better connect with their audience. Without these tools of the english language, dialogue and literature would be all the more dull and unappealing. However, with these useful instruments, writers and speakers can better communicate through some of the many rhetorical devices.
In his landmark essay, "The Rhetorical Situation," rhetorical scholar Lloyd Bitzer laid out some of the basic components of the rhetorical situation. Bitzer views rhetoric as a action and not just hot air and fancy words. He defines rhetoric as “A mode of altering reality, not by the direct application of energy to objects, but by the creation of discourse which changes reality through the mediation of thought and action.” He sees rhetoric as a way to learn how to get things done. Rhetoric can be applied to practical things.
