T he term Lineage simply comes from the word Heritage meaning the descendants from an ancestor, that being an artifact, a culture or religion. Heritage is the first component that builds up a country. It is what makes a country special by giving its necessary characteristics. Without it, a country probably won’t be able to function since we have nothing to branch off of. Some people don’t see the importance of having a lineage. Most of our day-to-day necessities comes from our ancestors. For us to understand the importance of our lineage, we must go back into our history. They consisted of Asians and Chinese individuals. In 1816, slaves began to oppose the whites and drove them off of the plantation. This was called ‘Bussa’s Rebellion.” A slave who detested slavery and believed in liberation. Though, this rebellion failed and 120 slaves died in combat whilst 144 were executed. Bussa died during the rebellion but it was because of his beliefs that in 1834 slavery was abolished. Now in the 21th century, we can see the statue of Emancipation which reminds us of what Bussa did to allow our freedom. It makes us unique so we can be identified from other islands. It is the beacon for tourism which improves us economically because of the money they spend here. It is what supplied us with education which we should be thankful for since many countries don’t have this blessing. The importance of my lineage is it is what enables us to bond as a society because we have one big thing in common. Without my lineage, I would have nothing to be prideful of and nothing to be thankful of. My lineage is what makes me a proud citizen of
