Bonhoeffer in this chapter talks about the call to discipleship that is given to all believers, something that is irresistible from God himself. He breaks down Jesus’ talk with the rich young ruler, and talks about how the ruler instead follows in his own self-conceit instead of submitting to the will of the Christ himself. In doing this, he would not be fulfilling the law, but instead be obeying a direct call from Christ to come and follow him, something he will not do because of his great possessions. I love how Bonhoeffer explains this story, because he breaks down the true meaning of the rich young ruler, and gets to the heart of the problem that many lay people would not understand through reading the story and the immediate context. Quickwrite #1- AQWF In this part of the book, Paul and his friends are out on the front re-wiring the front line with new barbed and communication wires when they hear the shrill cries of injured and badly wounded horses. Additionally, during the bombing, one of their soldiers becomes badly wounded in his leg and will most likely die or never be able to walk again. There is a similarity between this young soldier and the injured horses, made apparent by the comparison the author makes between the two. The young soldier, while human, is helpless after getting injured and will likely die if he is not helped soon.

During the discussion, I didn’t talk as much as I should have because for the questions that I didn’t raise my hand for I didn’t have an opinion for the discussion at hand, or at least I didn’t have a solid response that could be backed up with the text or generate more discussions among the group. For the two times that I did respond to someone’s response, I felt that I had a view worthy of being shared among my group, and this was supported when some of my peers agreed with the point I made and added their own view on top of mine. But for my second response, it was more like two responses which were included in one as a result of my wanting to respond to something that was mentioned before but that I wasn’t called on for, and for the most recent response at the time. The story closes with the image of a giggle to further convey to the reader that Mary’s mentally unstable.
When someone people see blind people, they think that they can't do anything, but working together with those that can see, blind people can achieve amazing things. Helen Keller fights for the right of the blind and persuade the reader to help them. Through the use of persuasive language and grammar, she creates a persuasive essay to help the blind. Through the use of pathos, ethos and logos, Helen Keller makes her argument stronger and more believable. In the fourth paragraph she uses pathos “ blind men will not be content to be numbered amoung those who will not, or cannot, carry burden on sholder or tool in hand.

The soft hour helps to communicate the feeling of comfort as Chopin tries to show how the setting of the sea is calming.
To Kill a Mockingbird Journal #3 I am in the middle of the Novel “To Kill A Mockingbird” in which so far there has been conflict with families in a small town in Alabama. Some conflict between these families is what is considered the good thing to do and what is considered the bad thing to do. In this journal I will be evaluating the Character Atticus and his most recent of emulation between his heart and his town.

Firemen are the policemen of the future world ,and some humans have made mistakes by hiding books. The author reveals throughout the novel how montag goes through transformation and how he changes.
1) In this quote, the term being used is metaphor because Life and Game are two completely different things but they are being compared to each other like if they are similar. 2) I think the author’s purpose for using this term is that he explains that Holden feels alone because he doesn’t feel like he is winning. 3) This quote revolves around the overall theme because it shows that Holden is isolated from everybody around him. 4) • I really like this dislike this idea because Holden is wrong you need to play according to the rules to win not be on the winning side. • I think this idea seems important because it is an inspiration quote to live by even though Holden doesn’t believe it; this is how life goes it is in reality.
In the novel Jasper Jones the protagonist Charlie is faced with racial aggravation towards his friend Jeffery and his family. As the story progresses, even though they seem small at the time, these racial stereotypes have cruel and unfounded aggravation. Silvey uses a range of language techniques to emphasise how unjustified the racial aggravation is. Jeffery is considered a racial outsider by the villagers and this is evident by the way they treat him.
The virtue of piety was a defining characteristic in Roman life, Romans carried out their everyday lives in accordance of the ideas of pietas which is one’s duty to their family, God, and people; these Roman values are displayed in Virgil’s The Aeneid through the actions of the character Aeneas, and challenged further in the Gospel of Matthew by Jesus Christ. The word “pietas” is a Latin word that means dutifulness, and refers to the balanced duty to a person’s family, gods, and people in Roman culture. The Romans believed that for these duties to be upheld then it must be implemented in one’s everyday life, and this belief of the Romans separated them from other ancient societies. In The Aeneid, Aeneas engages in all aspects of pietas throughout his journey to Italy to become the ancestor to the city of Rome.
