SRT1720 Description: EC50: 0.16 μM SRT1720 is a selective activator of SIRT1. Previous in vitro and in vivo studies using various cancer cell models show the role of SIRT1 either as an oncogene or a tumour suppressor gene. The oncogenic potential of SIRT1 is exemplified by studies indicating that blockade of SIRT1, like other HDACs, triggers growth arrest and apoptosis in breast, colon and lung cancers.
The authors of this journal discuss the healthcare systems cutbacks and its impact on the population. Every few years the Ontario government and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) negotiate their contract called The Physician Services Agreement (PSA) The contract details how much physicians can bill for their services, as well as where health care funding should be invested in or where a cut back could be. In March of 2014, the contract had expired, which has led to negotiations for over the year. Over that year negotiations for the new PSA contract had many conflicts mostly due to the government’s goal try to end the province's deficit by 2017-2018.
Olaudah Equiano made this plea. His point in saying this was to call out the people who claimed that they were Christians for their treatment of others. He is saying that if they are truly Christians they should not be treating other people in this way since God said that we should treat others the way that we would personally want to be treated.

Unit 2: EA2 Argumentative Essay Reflection What I feel I did well on this argumentative essay was my research. I had many sources that provided me with facts and statistics and they helped me to decide what side I was on. There were many sources that I did not use but that I had read through. What I struggled with was commentary.
In 1988, students at Gallaudet University shut down the campus in protest, with one clear goal in mind: Deaf President Now. The school board had just selected their newest president- the seventh hearing president for a school almost entirely made up of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students- and the people were pissed. Out of three candidates, the two Deaf men under consideration had been snubbed for yet another president who didn’t come from the culture the university represented, and even worse, didn’t use their language. Let that sink in for a moment.
During the mid 1800s, the pro-slavery argument was at its strongest. The Proslavery Argument by Boundless, an online textbook, discusses the famous Mudsill Speech of James Henry Hammond which stated that the pro-slavery political argument, an ideology that defended a class-sensitive view of American antebellum society. He believed that many past societies carried the burden of the existence of a class of landless poor. Continually, other southern pro-slavery theorists felt that this class of landless poor was “inherently transient and easily manipulated, and as such often destabilized society as a whole” (Boundless). Thus, the greatest threat to democracy was seen as coming from “class warfare that destabilized a nation's economy, society and
Driven by the belief that space was bequeathed to them, the Native Americans feel justified in defending their land against the growing encroachment of the white man as the American landscape unfolds. Their motive is the premise that a higher authority has granted them the right to the space, and that the Great Spirit has created the landscape exclusively for them. Fueled by the formation of conflict over land, the Great Ottawa Chief, Pontiac, in his speech at Detroit, seeks to persuade the tribes, including the Ottawa, Huron, and Pottawatomi to agree to resistance. Invoking the words of the Delaware prophet, Neolin, Pontiac recounts the vision which he believes justifies resistance. Neolin urges the tribes to sever all relations to the customs
I enjoyed the topic of the Annotation 1 worksheet, because I personally disagreed with the stance of the author. The Article argues that disallowing welfare users to spend their food stamp money on sugary drinks would allow users to lead healthier lives, but I do not think that the situation is that black and white. According to the article, “They would still receive every penny of support they now get, meaning they would have as much, if not more, to spend on nutritious food” (Farley). I believe that health can be a social construct, and what might be healthy to one person might not be healthy to another, and banning sugary drinks, does not mean that welfare users will go further in the act and make healthier decisions about everything purchased.
In Prisoner B-3078 by Alan Gratz, Yanek is a young boy who gets captured by Nazis and brought to the holocaust. As months come he gets transported to different concentration camps daily. Yanek finds ways to survive the holocaust, using courage, determination, and being fortunate. These traits help him succeed in his main goal, survival.
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
When I out grew my Shetland pony, my mother and I decided it was time to start looking for a horse for me to continue my riding career on. We had no idea at that time, that horse would be a starving, broke to only the basics, and a recent failure of a pre-purchase veterinarian exam, due to an injury to his fetlock. When we went to meet Hank, who was eventually renamed to Juble, I knew immediately that he was the horse for me, my mom wasn’t as convinced. Much like myself, my mom has a huge heart for animals, especially the ones in harmful environments, which means after minimal begging, she agreed to purchase Juble. This began the long process of helping him put on more weight, helping his swollen fetlock heal, and gaining his trust.
In Ben Robert-Smith’s opinion piece published in the Herald Sun on the 16th of January, 2017 “We Are One but We Are Many”, Robert- Smith addresses he Addresses the Australian public with the argument that is changing the date of Australia day from January 26th. He argues that the date should remain the same but should be undertaken in a manner that is “inclusive and respectful” of other Australian’s interpretation of the day. Comparatively, in Kevin V. Russell’s Letter to the Editor he presents the argument from an alternate perspective.
Hard Data, Hollow Protests I highly disagree with majority of Mac Donald’s argument. Firstly, her inclination that officers “have more to fear from black men than black men have to fear” from the officers does not sit well with me. Although blacks may make up the highest percentage of cop-killers, blacks are more likely to be shot than whites. I suggest that since both facts are true to an extent, social culture and biases have become the driving force for both instances to play out as they are: Black men are more likely to kill cops, cops are more likely to kill black men.
In Plato’s dialogue Phaedo, he explains the soul and comes to the conclusion that the soul is immortal. Through describing the last hours of Socrates life before his execution, he lays out three arguments in support of the idea that while the body may cease to exist the soul cannot perish. In this paper, I will explicate Socrates three arguments for the immortality of the soul and their objections. Then I will argue on the presupposition of the Law of Conservation of Mass, that the universe, entailing the soul, must be cyclical. The Law of Conservation of Mass
